Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
Name your favorite 'noise making' app and why
By 'noise making' I mean an app that sits outside the bounds of a traditional drum machine sampler or synth that has a unique and often unrepeatable aspect to it. Or just something that doesn't have all the bells and whistles but you keep coming back to...
"Bonus points*" for being esoteric or less known.
I'll go first:
BeepBoop
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/beepboop/id822205903
Audiobus compatible but, no midi and no presets, no arp - strictly barebones . I still haven't discovered quite how all the knobs interact with each other, but I love the sounds it makes. Warm and yet somewhat digital. Crank up the feedback and delay and lets get a drone on.
Not to take someone else's but my two runner ups are DROM and NoiseMusick…
(I won't say why. I'm leaving that to someone else if they so wish)
*bonus points have no cash value and are not good with any other offer other than a 'good on ya' and virtual star

Shoom. I love the sonics.
Shoom...
I could Shoom all day long.
Anything specific? I agree it's great, but what about it is unknowable but lovely to you?
Hexaglyphics ticks all these boxes!
TC11, sure it is a synthy thing and comprehendible by nature but my ignorance makes it a noise maker
Yup this one is cool. And I get funny looks from folks when playing it.
If SYS would just add Audiobus compat, it would be noise making gold.
SYS™ by Mainvolume
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sys/id1439243037
Yup slap some FX on it and away you go.
Does it really work? And or how does it work? Is it similar to RjDj?
It works when I use it. It’s based on procedural audio, so it is similar to RJDJ, except that SYS is more conversational than musical.
Cool and thanks, I'll check it out.
@Empolo Forgot to give you your bonus: ⭐️
Ivcs3, hands down most gorgeously unpredictable sounds
Tis a strange and wondrous beast with its battleship patchbay.
Virtual ANS
Dr. Ohm
And honorable mention to the newcomer, KQ Unotone
Been out for about 10 months?
How did this one slip through, unnoticed?
Here is my offering.
MendelTone by Stanley Jackson

Free one, too. Fully functional, even saves patches, but the saves only last 3 days.

Cool thread.
BitWiz too

All sorts of goodies in my ‘Other Sounds’ folder. I can’t see these going AU anytime soon...
rrarrow
It can be a box of hell if you want
MendelTone is great for bleeps, whirrs, crackles, squeals...all the early Eno for dirt cheap.
852Mb...? What the hell is it? Full of samples? Thks.
Ok @gusgranite ya can’t just post a folder full of esoterica and not say what at least the weirdest ones do!
You’re making my eye twitch with possible wonder.
Giant isopod and S4 rhythm machine, I used to lust after these oldies.
I still love mucking around in earhoof!
I also want to know about Giant Isopod!
I have almost gone for it more times than I can count.
Follow the link to the app description.
It is too hard to explain, since I don’t really understand what it is.
Some sort of fake brain thingy.
Yeah, I looked at the link before but couldn't work out what it was. The reviews didn't help either.
Probably the best app description I’ve encountered, downloading now.
Thanks for sharing!
Fluxly
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fluxly/id1376844813
Little creatures that rotate and emit unusual sounds.
Cool! Thanks.
Well, because.... snigger snigger
Anything by the Fluxly Dev. Freakin great noise emitters.
My recommendation. Noisemusick by Fluxama. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fluxly/id1376844813
Aaand no longer available. I downloaded it but had to remove it due to intolerable crackles.
Would really like to know wth that thing was.
Edit: a cryptic medium post, hinting at some unspecified shenanigans by intelligence agencies, a Twitter account that has been restricted due to ‘unusual activities’ whatever that means - I smell a viral marketing campaign.
