Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

you may check 'bluetooth mechanical keypad' in your favourite search engine, or look for gaming keypads (which often feature mechanical keys).
But it needs a keypress-to-midi app.
Beware of coupling problems with bluetooth devices, though. Some look great on screen, but may have trouble connecting.
Thanks.
I plan to use a programmable gaming product like this:
Is there such a keypress to MIDI app? That would be great, I know some apps will allow some qwerty keyboard control.
There wouldn’t be any velocity control which to my mind is one of the key benefits of using a hardware device.
That's not a problem. I don't need it for this purpose (clip launching, preset switching etc.)
There’s an app called Bome MIDI translator. Not sure if you need Mac or PC
Check out Secret Base Design’s ‘Side Car’ app. It might be what you are looking for.
Ha! Back in the aughts when I was working a full time corporate day job and the first version of Garage Band came out, I used it to create tracks using my office QWERTY keyboard as a MIDI controller. (Also, did remixes in Quicktime and created sculptures out of office supplies!) You work with the tools you got!
thanks
That looks promising!
i need to find a job like that. I used to play the QWERTY often in Ableton Live.
There is something satisfying about keys with a mechanical thunk to them.
I'm subconsciously trying to create a poor mans Cirklon it seems. :)
thanks

Hmm new forum and I can't delete the quotes out of my post LOL.
Did you hear there’s an app called Bome Midi translator? 🤪
