Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Hammerhead Rhythm Station Patches/Presets

I love this app, but would love some more patches. Is it possible to download and import patches into this app? And is anyone making them?

  • By patches do you mean new drum kits or new rhythms ?

  • Thank you for your reply. I am referring to new rhythms. I have been loading one-shot drum files no problem. I was just hoping to be able to save some time and load more beats/rhythms.

Midi Import would be nice... Will love to import Lumbeat midi Drum files into it, to somewhat treat with the Auv3 issue... And 16 pads too... Version 2 maybe?

So Midi import is what's needed? I noticed that there are lots of patches available to load up into FAC Drumkit. I was hoping that the same is possible for Hammerhead.

  • Ok, so FAC Drumkit doesn’t have any kind of built in sequencer, so you must be referring to the actual drum samples when you say “patches”. That’s what those, that are available for FAC Drumkit are.

I see. I did not know that, thank you.

Hammerhead has a Load Preset option. And this is the description in the manual:

I guess I was just hoping that "loading" would include third-party presets.

And if I need to get a new iPad, can I port the presets over to that new device?

If you have a 3rd-party preset (*.hh file), you can share it to Hammerhead, which will import it.

You can export all presets from Hammerhead, which will create a zip file. I suspect that you could share that zip file to restore the presets to a new copy of the app.

So you're basically covered for import and export of presets. Are there any such files being shared? Not so sure about that.

Yes, I haven't seen any of those files in my searches here and other places. I suppose once I've gathered a few good ones I could start the trend.

Had also searched for presets in the past and only found this one, TheWeeO3 (Korg Mini Pops).
Unfortunately not what you're looking for, no rhythms, just samples:
    https://github.com/mark-orion/The-Wee-O3
There is also a Koala file in the "samples" folder.

the corresponding video how it sounds

  • No preset files, but I found the Pocket Operations Manual from “Shitty Recording Studio” a good source of inspiration for creating rhythms: https://shittyrecording.studio/
    The PDF is even free.

    Interesting and educational! Thank you.

This is a magical find - a perfect guide! Thank you for this! I'll be using this to fast-track my beat creation on Hammerhead.

Last night I was playing around with downloaded drum loop files in Loopy Pro, and augmenting those wav loops with drum tops on Hammerhead. The combination was pretty sweet. I'll use this guide to help with more augmentation.

I find using loops in Hammerhead is pretty cool as well. Playing around with the sample start position can mangle a loop into something completely new

Fantastic. I've been looking for something like this that breaks down various genres into patterns for a long time. Thank you!

P.S. - If someone was so inclined they could map these into MIDI drum patterns. In fact, I'm going to try creating a few myself and see how they work.

  • That pdf is cool. I can actually hear in my head how many of these grooves sound, since I programmed so many rhythms in these type of sequencers. I don’t really want to be typing someone else’s rhythms when I can draw my own easily.
Not dissing, but drum programming is the least I struggle with when making music.
But we all have our strengths and weaknesses.

Maybe we could have a presets thread like there has been for other apps (like hilda). I love HH since decades (the original) so I would be totally down for this.

  • Don’t forget that hammerhead can randomly generate patterns on single or all channels.

    Yes.. Powerful..

This site has a lot of original Hammerhead samples and patterns and samples. I haven't been able to get them to load into Hammerhead on my Ipad though. I've tried manually copying the .HH files as well as zipping them then moving the files to the Hammerhead folder on the Ipad. Nothing has worked so far other than loading them into the original Hammerhead Windows program then manually copying the patterns. http://threechords.com/hammerhead/introduction.shtml

I know only the glitch/ Mutation fader and the random Sequencer player. Any other?

I was referring to the random button in the chan.config panel.

Those are for the original Hammerhead. The current iOS Hammerhead is a remake of the original concept, so there's little reason to expect they're file-compatible, as you have found.

Whoooooooo! I guess you told me..........LOL

  • I recently made a hammerhead instrument using samples I made in our laundry room:

If your interested, here is the preset:

I haven't tried sharing a hammerhead preset before so let me know if it doesn't work.

Will do, although I mostly noodle/jam/play live with little recording. Anyway, great patch that reminds me of watching "Stomp" when I was on a brief visit to New York in '99.

It works very well, thanks. Just have to double-click the preset file in Files app. Nice sound collection and rhythm combo!

Glad you like it! Hammerhead's great for using your own samples.
