Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Shrink screenshots. This is useful when posting to forums. It defaults to 640px width, but 800 or 1024 is better for landscape iPad screenshots. It ends in the photos app for cropping, which is better done after resizing.

  • You can toggle mouse mode by triple-tapping the power button (or home button on devices that have one). You need to switch on the accessibility shortcuts first.

Yeah it’s a pointless shortcut, but you can add more/other actions to it after you download it. I made it when I was learning about Shortcuts. It has the sound in base64, then decodes it into a playable file. It might inspire you to do more stuff?

there is no file needed, the shortcut is self-contained

  • I made one that turns bluetooth on/off, since the control center stopped actually turning it on/off and only disconnect devices. I just checked and the shortcut seems to be broken. I think I made it back on iOS 11 if I remember correctly. I’ll see if I can update it, though I don’t know if I can share if I’m not using Siri with iCloud.

  • Maybe someone could create a page on the Audiobus wiki for these and leave a link here to it. That way it can be refined over time and be easy to find.

  • Has anyone got a shortcut to transfer audioshare files to itunes without plugging the ipad to a computer!!!

As long as both devices are on the same network you can enable Audioshare's built-in webserver and browse to it from your computer...

Haha. I actually watched the entire masterclass. Was my first primer into EDM.
Added a shortcut for YouTube downloads.

  • This weekend, I recorded somebody reading out some cut-up lyrics, and I ended up with a 4-5 min WAV file. I stripped silence in Logic, and ended up with around 150 clips, all with the same name (plus a number).

The problem: I like to title vocal chops with the words in the audio, but what a pain.

Shortcuts to the rescue. There’s a Shortcuts add-on called Toolbox Pro. One of its actions uses on-device speech-to-text to transcribe audio. I made a shortcut that ran all my clips through this, and used the recognized text to rename the file.

It totally worked! Way faster than doing it by hand.

I can share the shortcut if anyone needs it, but it’s rough. It fails and exits if there are no words in the clip, but it does the job.

  • How about Shortcuts from the master of Shortcuts himself?
