What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Here is the reverse side of the coin. @rs2000 supplied the basic tracks and I mangled. Interestingly, I feel rs2K’s stylistic vision dominates in both tracks. Our approaches are totally different, tho, so the results are reflective of that, and here’s why...

  1. I used all of his midi info rather than expert surgical extractions.
  2. It took me a few hours and I was satisfied with the result, whereas rs put much more thought into his track... and it probably shows.
  3. My effort is an interpretation rather than something entirely different and new as is his wont.
  4. I orchestrated, mixed his basic midi, and added an MPE lead line using NOISE. rs2K approached it as a totally original project.

Hence the indolent and the industrious combine for a very satisfying collaborative enterprise.

    Collaboration is most fun when the end result sounds nothing like I would have ever done when composing on my own.
    I really enjoy this kind of work.
    Musicians should collab much more, we have all the required tech stuff at hand and a great forum that helps finding collab partners.

    Collaborations are more than twice the amount of work... and it shows here. There's something
    wonderful about hybrids creating something you would ever see naturally. You can see the genes from the parents but the offspring is a new category of beast.
