Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

  • For $2 I'll play with it and let you know.

  • It does what it says or implies on a low-level basis. The only “glitch” I found is that there’s an entry in project settings labeled “MIDI Export”. After setting up s sequence and clicking this button, you get a pop up that says “Success” and a few seconds later the app crashes. There’s nothing in the “tutorial” explaining where the midi export [file?] goes. The tutorial is supposed to serve as the app’s help, but since that’s not in the tutorial, what happens is a mystery. Perhaps the midi file goes to iTunes for ArpBud. I will have to plug the iPad in to the desktop to look for it in iTunes.

It’s easily routed in AB3 midi. I tried to add it to AUM and it’s not clear how to do it. I’m trying to add it in the new apeMatrix app now, but it doesn’t look promising. I sent a note to the dev about the MIDI export issue.

  • Got the beta last night it’s not high end Audiobus only I believe but is fun to play with and quite flexiable.

  • Well there’s always MF adaptor
