Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

  • That is definitely worth getting for anyone that doesn’t have it and wants to experiment with pitch. Octavox is the big brother, it’s great as well.

  • Few nice kontakt instruments for the full version from 8dio have gone free, my fav being free you, very nice selection of sounds and their newer interface to boot. Not sure how long this will be on for, around 8gb for all 3.

Also a very tasty eq from fuse audio labs, makers of plugin finery, think this one is not time limited.

And lastly a cheeky one from analog obsession, colour box based on the sp-1200 by emu, worth checking out some of the other freebies from the site.

Been some great christmas gifts from them over the years, replika still gets loads of use here, more than the xt version.

  • Woke up this morning and it was waiting in my account, putting it thru it’s paces later.

Another nice kontakt instrument has popped up for the full version, tuned propane tank, sounds a bit like a steel drum, just not as sweet, they also have a free guitar phrase instrument, but that’s a bit more specialist.

  • Sweet mama lou, it’s raining free reverbs, site is sloooooo at the mo, looks good tho.

  • Yep, not a chance of getting on their site right now, it’s not responding, but I look forward to checking it out eventually. I have a lot of reverbs, including some very good plates, but if it sounds good I will use it for sure. I’m looking to get away from waves again if possible because of the WUP, even though the abbey road plates do sound great.

No dice here still, wup thing is a pita, if you’ve got anymore of the abbey road plugs, sometimes adding ones you haven’t got, if it’s only a few can be cheaper then wup, I’m missing the new one costs around £15 to upgrade to the bundle the other week, get wup for a year too. I’ve stopped using most my waves stuff and can’t sell them as most are out of date.

Yeah, I’m not really interested in kicking the can down the road with them. I have an Apollo x8 now and I’d rather spend my money with uad (plus I got the analog classics pro bundle free when I registered) and I also got sknote audio’s plate that sounds quite good. And izotope gave me a free music production bundle 3 package since I had purchased 2.1 recently, so that came with 2 of the exponential reverbs.

Logic has plenty in it too, I’m definitely not lacking in tools. Now that I officially finished all of my day job duties I can consider myself a full time soundman and musician, so with this time I have to use the tools that I have.

Too easy to get distracted with new stuff and not use what you’ve got, was always tempted by uad as they have nice exclusives, maybe one day I’ll pick up an arrow. Saying all that though have you ever used acustica audio stuff? Has been improving less clunky now, but some of their stuff sounds fantastic, close to hardware. They have bought out a christmas free channel strip again, looks like an ssl, last years one was a focusrite strip I think, which then got upgraded for free to a bigger version, well worth checking out, need to instal their download app, tis free till 14th of feb.

My Apollo is allowing my 2012 MBP to still be viable for mixing, so I use the Apollo dsp as much as I can. I tried acustica at one point and it was cool, I know that their stuff has changed since I tried it. The uad compressors and preamps are really amazing, I don’t use my 500 preamps as much since I got the Apollo.

But, as I said,I definitely have what I need. I did get my Arturia reverb serial earlier though so I’ll install that later.

  • yeah, just grabbed it, nice move

  • Very excited about this one, tis like a medley of some of valhalla’s finest plugs, supermassive by valhalla dsp, long verbs, cloud delays, glitchy sort of repeats and more, but be careful, it does naughty things to your audio.
