Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

  • I bought Curtis for 9.99 a while back. No update, no MIDI, file import is only Dropbox and maybe the mic. Even though it has these flaws, it is a super sound morphing and manipulation tool. I didn't regret the purchase, but I use it mostly for creating sounds and drones for other apps to manipulate. It sounds like Hexaglyphics with samples. At a dollar, it is worth the trip.

Will pick up the others for similar experience.

I see no signs that it will be updated with features, as the developer's site doesn't indicate any future plans to do so. However, if I pay good money for glitch samples, I really should laugh at myself for balking at spending 99 cents.

  • .99 a piece is a steep reduction. Shame it doesn't look like they will be developed further. Maybe the developer who bought Seline Redux would wanna delv into these? And Redux em. or somethin.

Not sure about the others, but like the fact that while it was back in Feb 2014 CP1919's last update was to make it work backwards to iOS 5.1. A perfect little limited snack to put on my iPad1. I believe Thanksmas has begun...

EDIT: The others are also OK for 5.1

Do you know if they work on iOS 9?

    Curtis does.

    Don't have the others yet.

Which one's would you recommend? I wasn't going to buy any, but for 79p....

  • I'm watching the CP 1919 - 5 - Chord Insanity Tutorial - they've just freezed the fluid, and are now about to 'freak the ribbon'. If it didn't sound so awful I'd buy this immediately...

  • 99 cents of indecision over there in the Valleys...

To be fair this isn't your usual 'let's buy a synth' type decision. I mean, 'Donut vs Ocarina'. Come on.

  • @monzo There's also the Accountant/Overseer to consider. I find that a dozen 99 cent entries on the docket cause more eyebrows to be tutted than one 12 dollar one....game theory young Jedi.

You've got a point - all those Apple invoices....even the ones for free apps raise a tut.

  • @Flo26 Just so you know, first rule of American living: Check your donut...

  • Curtis looks like a thing I might buy, the others might tip me over the edge though.

  • They'd all see a lot more use round these parts with the inclusion of audiobus / iaa. Shame that they've been left to stagnate for so long, as these were some of the more innovative apps early on. All the strange agency stuff has quite a distinct sound to my ears.

  • So to confirm - None of these apps are AB or IAA, correct?

  • edited November 2015

Thanks @gsm909. Love me some Strange Agency!

For me the hook-up for their stuff is the iPhone items (which plays nice in iOS 9 on iPad, and I assume are $1 too)

particularly Mega Curtis and Extra Slice, because both use General pasteboard in and out. Extra Slice is Strange Agencys idea of DJing (crazed and cool) and Mega Curtis is Curtis in b&w and with pasteboard...the pasteboard imports work fine, don't worry about the weird error messages (says it won't work and it does anyway, no matter what the message says)

    http://thestrangeagency.com/iphone/

Yep unfortunately no AB or IAA @Seangarland

Pre that stuff (was there a time before AB) I steered to the iPhone stuff for the pasteboard (which was not available on the iPad at that time, and not on older iPhone stuff)

Editing the oops: Curtis for iPad is also gen. Pasteboard, and the cool Extra Slice isn't discounted, bummer (I will say I find it worth the $5) thanks for doing the fact check @gsm909

Weirdly Mega Curtis is newer than Curtis for iPad, and the synthesis is a bit more detailed (and you can assign scales)

^MegaCurtis for iPhone is reduced to £0.79 $0.99, but Extraslice is still £3.99 $4.99

    Going for the Jew's harp

  • Just grabbed cp and Curtis they just look like fun on a boring day and should make for a nice audioshare library this winter perhaps. I have a mini I could load them onto then. Who knows perhaps if enough people like this it make get another update one day when least expected.

It's very interesting that these apps from 2012 work on iOS 5-9. I wonder why so many other apps break? Hopefully this spike in sales will allow the dev sufficient funds to implement ab!

  • For those who are curious and disappointed about ExtraSlice being $4.99 you could try ExtraSlice Destroyer https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/extraslice-destroyer/id553340620?mt=8 fo' free

  • I like the update list.....the one improvement? Typo correction

Now that's confidence in your product :)
    Will check it out....

  • Just thrilled you can ACP in and out.

Quite so, was talking of CP and Curtis. Apologies if you were misled.
