Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
Why does Sugar Bytes Factory only output in mono on my iPad?
Hey there.
I’ve been using Factory by Sugar Bytes on my iPad for a while now and have always had this problem.
When I plug in headphones directly into the iPad, everything works as it should. But as soon as I plug in my iPad to my setup and listen to playback through my computer, I always need to change the stereo knob in Factory to one side or the other, or else I won’t get any sound - ie, there’s no “stereo” option. Im plugging the iPad into my setup using a 3.5mm cable into a 1/4inch adapter into a Behringer UMCHD404 interface, with GarageBand as my DAW(for what it’s worth).
Theoretically this wouldn’t be an issue (I don’t necessarily need stereo functionality), but oftentimes it changes the harmonic structure of the patch. I can’t find any information as to why this would happen. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Unless you split the headphone signal (Y cable), you’re only going to send one channel to the Behringer because the adapter is only going to make one contact. Even if your adapter is stereo, the Behringer's inputs are not, so you'll still lose a channel.

I had a UMC404HD - you have to either connect to the iPad using the USB output on the back of the unit, or run the headphone jack out of the iPad into 2 separate inputs on the front of the Behringer. Those are the only ways I know to get stereo output from the Behringer.
@mojozart is right - the Behringer's audio inputs are mono only, so you have to use two 😉
Ah! I had no idea, that makes sense. That sucks, since I’m using a USB adapter to clock MIDI into the iPad. It is what it is though I suppose. Either way, very glad to know how that’s happening. Thanks gang!
Something like this should solve the issue (red is for the right input:

One question: what are you using to send MIDI clock into the iPad? There's a chance that you could use the UMC404HD for both MIDI and audio
I have the iPad, a Volca Sample and Microbrute all MIDI slaved to my Jd-xi (which is for sale if anyone’s interested!). They’re connected via a Quadra MIDI Thru box and a lightning to USB camera adapter for the ipad.
@VenaCova what's between the camera adapter and the Quadra?
Oh yeah. It’s this doohicky:

@VenaCova got it. I think you can replace it with the UMC404HD, and you'll get both audio and MIDI through it, something like this:
Huh! Ok I’ll give it a shot. Thanks man!
You're welcome! Feel free to reach out again if it doesn't work
