Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Daylight - early morning AUM jam

Started putting this one together while sipping on my coffee, watching the sun rise, and watching the traffic build up on the 4 lane county road in front of my house. Another typical weekday!

I hope you guys like it!

  • Another one I’m kinda proud of guys. Mostly composed in Drambo; I used 3Sleeve’s Trifecta (triple FM module) instrument rack from patchstorage for the EP sound on one Drambo track which I thought sounded awesome (the GF said it was annoying lol!) then, a few other apps were utilized, Synthmaster One (Sequenced by Atom) for an arpeggiated synth part which was then run through Filterstep, and a bass line courtesy of AudioKit’s Sub 808, which has been my go to for bass lines in everything lately, also sequenced by Atom.

    I’d appreciate some feedback!

  • Think I should add a couple guitar tracks to it or leave as is?

  • @Intrepolicious bloody wonderful man. Gives me flashbacks to Pornography and Faith by The Cure...but as composed through our lenses in this day and age.

I want to hear a higher octave element toward the middle to end to help me take flight.

    Nice work.

Thank you so much for giving it a spin! I definitely appreciate the feedback. Now I’m going to have to go back and listen to it again, and think about this higher octave element thing lol.

  • Sounds very good. I can definitely see the Cure reference. I like the EP sound and the synth sound that comes on top. As it made me think of the Cure, I then couldn't help wishing I was hearing this played by a band, with real vocals and drummer 😛

  • Nicely assembled, but I’d like to hear it with a couple of parts that are more improvised rather than looped. Something in the background and a lead part to get it out of that safe zone.

Thank you for the feedback guys! I was thinking about adding a guitar part or two. Maybe an improvised guitar solo?

Did you already create a new version and post it here in the forum?

  • I’m not sure which version I’m listening to but I love this, it just melts me. An alt style singer would bit the bill for sure.

  • I like it as-is. I tend to think the first versions contain the inspiration. I have messed up A LOT of tracks by 'improving' them. But for some reason, I keep doing it! I like the volume drops at 3:53 and 5:17. If you're already planning to do an edit, how about something totally unexpected during one of those drops? Maybe something to do with sunrise. Something that would make the listener say... where did that come from? Then go back into the song like nothing happened. Just a thought.

  • I really like the sound, a bit Orbital alike.

Thanks guys! I don’t know how you guys find these old threads (over two years ago), but this piece has long been forgotten about lol. I think at the time, I was thinking about trying to “improve” it and record another version, but I guess I ended up moving on to something else.

I totally agree Paul, a lot of times going back and trying to fix things, and “improve” them, tends to wash away the original magic. I’ve experienced this many times myself. Sometimes it’s better to not have those rearview mirrors!

(You know it’s old when you see Atom 1! lol)
