Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Most obscure iOS app that you love? Hidden Treasure Apps Thread

I have many apps that everybody knows about and use like BlackHole by Eventide (for a reason because that’s a very good reverb and everybody should know about it) but I also have some hidden treasure that nobody seems to use like Concentric (free). Its an original rhythm tool.

https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/concentric-rhythm/id1188907944?l=fr

What are the unknow gems that everybody should know about?

  • The most obscure app would be one called "songwriter" and just because it never has been used. So if I open it I don't know if it's going to explode my pad or something. I'm just scared ... 🤣

Beside the joke... I have only 20some apps ... not much considering other guys around here. So everything apart that weird app is well known and very famous here.

    Very good.

Hexaglyphics and CuSnP are two good fantastic ones I don't see get mentioned often.

    Good call on both.

  • Cream is pretty obscure sequencer/arp/groovebox. A great port and too complicated for most including me.

  • So what's really sad is I start searching for all these new obscure apps mentioned above — only to discover I already own them! 🤣

    😂😂😂

  • Whoa, concentric looks really cool. And I can use it in split view. Nice.

    @JeffChasteen
I'm trying to know when to use CuSnP or what it is for but I can't figure. I've used it in making my bass a bit more natural using C Phrygian mode, but I'm not sure of other use cases.

  • I was gonna stick to what can still be downloaded, but i'll drop some here and check later
And not all are hidden, but may not get too much mentions nowadays...

    • Phaserings
    • Spacevibe
    • Drone FX
    • YouCompose
    • Looptical
    • Bleep!Box

    • Hexaglyphics
    • Portable Dandy
    • Minute
    • Forever Beats (not available anymore :disappointed:)
    • dot Melody
    • Shape Synth
    • Pulse Code's Rhythm Studio (the dev is no longer on appstore)
    • Korg's iDS-10
    • Pixitracker + Pixitracker 1Bit
    • DXi
    • Caustic (still rocks. And you can get for free on desktop. Same for Nanostudio 1)

Special mentions to those that won't run on my current system:
Yonac's Shredder and Organ+, YUMI:synth, Songineer, WOPR, Hexatone, iYM2151, the whole InstantDrummer series, GodtalksHD, Caelestis...
Just to name a few
    I'm sure I forgot some

I have OvalSynth and its very good.

  • Oh yeah... Drum Space and Cotracks where interesing concepts. Maybe i'll reinstall to see if they are worth trying again

Electrify + Electrify NXT, SpaceSampler, and Yonac's Thereminator

  • I feel moved to mention Strange Attractor by Jonathan Mackenzie, developer of the Ops modular app. I've always been impressed by his wares and while I've not found much practical use for them (full disclosure) they've been bouncing around in my head in a feedback loop, doing... Something.

Was just running Oval synth thru Alteza reverb a couple days ago. There’s some really nice sounds in oval - sound three times better thru Alteza.

Thanks. This looks good (famous last words). Anyone else got it? What’s the vibe? Is it just because it is to complicated. Surely it can’t be more complicated than Drambo 😗 ?
No link but that’s not a deal breaker for me. Any opinions to add?

  • Seems no one talks about triqtraq anymore. Super clever li'l app. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/triqtraq-jam-sequencer/id488578848

There was a lot of good tutorial style posts on here when it first came out. Search the forum and you'll learn a lot about it.

    READ NO FURTHER:
Get Touchscaper on sale and watch this video for a touch based UI cheap:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=812&v=ptcmWFCtiR4&feature=emb_logo

PS - It also sounds like Littlewoodg has bought everything so he knows
which are really never mentioned here.

    MY ORIGINAL SUGGESTION.

I like the touch control apps from Bit Sharpe:

TC-Performance - free with IAP's to unlock more sounds and features - it's a $8 app for everything.
The description of "all" twice with 2 prices makes me think there needs to be more description on the iTunes Store Page.

    1. Transposition $1.99
    2. All Packs + Transposition $6.99
    3. Core Pack $3.99
    4. Expansion Pack 1 $0.99
    5. Expansion Pack 2 $0.99
    6. Pad Pack 1 $0.99
    7. All Packs + Transposition $7.99

Start with free to see if it hooks you and maybe an expansion pack.

    TC-11 $25
TC-DATA - It outputs MIDI so you can put a intuitive Touch Interface over any favorite Apps.

I love giving one of these full screen set ups to someone with headphones and just walk away.
If they like music this is so empowering and always makes great decisions. Many other apps have these
features now like Gestrument Pro, Synthscaper, etc. But this series of apps got me hooked and I bought the lot during a Black Friday "all-in" sale.

You can improvise your best ambient results with this way of approach music.
Move up here and it gets tense.
Move down here and it's calming.
Swirl over this regions and it sounds like a flock of tiny faeries.

You train yourself in a few minutes of discovery and are ready to create sounds tracks of ambient moods.

Probably a great musical therapy tool.

  • Don’t get me started.
First of all a lot of those mentioned above aren’t obscure at all...but obscure is in the eye of the beholder I spoze

    Some chippy/tracker stuff
    Snibbetracker
    October
    Chiptunes Pro
    Sinusoid (Erik Sigth)
    Rytmik Lite

(The rest of the Rytmiks too, for more sample-based fun)

Enumero (a wonder! from the amazing Henry Lowengard who did Droneo, mentioned above) Not to be missed!

    Waverails
    Klankwelle
    K machine
    Bip
    Protein Der Klang
    FluXPad

    Zillidrone!

+1 on TC-Data and TC-11. TC-Data is an essential tool for me.
And a great description of these touch interfaces @McD 😎

Yamaha AN2015 gets some use here still. Wish they would add some more connectivity, would be happy to pay for an Audiobus compatible version.

It’s hidden in a free app called Synth Book if anyone is curious.
