Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Optimize iOS for audio production

All suggestions welcome so one can get the most out of the ipad/iphone and focus only on music.

Comments

    • Turn on DND
    • Delete your email account
    • Delete all apps non music related
    • Make music :)
  • The key is to reduce unnecessary processor activity while using music apps/DAW e.g.

    Turn off Background App Refresh
    Turn off Location Services
    Use Airplane Mode
Soft Restart to clear memory first

I can't believe I have been producing for a year and haven't done most of those things on the list.
    Thanks for the tip.

How do you do a soft restart?

On an iPad with a Home button:

    1. Press Power button till the "Slide to power off" slider appears (but don't slide the slider)
    2. Press the Home button for about 5 seconds until the unlock keypad appears
    3. Unlock, and done!

Sorry not sure how to do it on newer iPad Pro without home button.

  • Soft reset can still be done on iPads with no home button. You need to use the virtual home button (In the accessibility options) in the same way as you would a physical home button, as described above.

Pro tip: make your “three click shortcut“ the accessibility menu and you can still do a soft reset on a home buttonless device in about 5 seconds.

  • Use a browser instead of the the apps for social media stuff.

  • @alecsbuga hi can you explain what DND is - thanks

Prevents getting a phone call or message ping while on stage/recording the output.

    Do Not Disturb

Ok then on an iPad with a physical home button you need to hard reboot the device to clear memory?

    Reboot isn't required.
Memory Reset: Long-press Power button until 'slide to power off' slider appears, then Long-press Home button until you're prompted to type in your unlock code (iPadOS). This has cleared up several memory issues for me, so I do it before an AUM or BM3 session.
