  • I don’t think these have ever been on sale?

The desktop versions are five times more expensive so the price is already low, considering what you can do with these things!

Indeed a true, soft spoken, humble, content kind of person.

  • This post was strangely prophetic!

    “PPG Synths acquired by Brainworx!

Plugin Alliance is proud to announce that founding member Brainworx has acquired the assets of Wolfgang Palm's iconic PPG brand. PPG will join the Alliance very soon with their famous synth products, updated by BX in close cooperation with the man himself, founder Wolfgang Palm (who is universally recognized as the originator of the wavetable synthesis)!

Together Brainworx and Wolfgang plan to take the PPG brand and advance its digital products into the future, following Palm’s planned retirement at the end of March 2020 - after 50 years in the creative field of sound synthesis!

Wolfgang Palm "I am very glad to have found Brainworx and Plugin Alliance, who appreciate my work from the past and want to continue my legacy. They have a great team of competent developers, product specialists, marketing, and all that is needed to make a company successful. I support their work to make the transition as smooth as possible, and it will be exciting to see how this evolves. Also, I think that this collaboration will result in a much wider audience than before."

PPG synthesizers found a place onstage and in productions of artists such as A-ha, Alphaville, David Bowie, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Depeche Mode, Jean Michel Jarre, Level 42, Rush, Talk Talk, Tangerine Dream, Tears For Fears, Ultravox, Stevie Wonder, and many others.

Dirk Ulrich "We are proud that Wolfgang Palm put his brand and product into our hands. We will make sure to carry his legacy with the respect it deserves and we are looking forward to evolving the brand and products for years to come.”

    noooice

    lets celebrate with a sale

  • "The future of the IOS apps has not been decided yet". According to his website. Everything has gone from the appstore. Hmmm, not sure I'm super confident they'll continue to be supported.

  • @SpartanClownTide Waaaa :o - you are right: WaveMapper, WaveGenerator, Infinite and Phonem are no longer available in the appstore. I hope these will re-surface again

  • From http://wolfgangpalm.com/index.html

    Important announcement

    Dear Customer,
after 50 years of creative work in the field of sound synthesis I decided to stop doing business. I've been thinking about this step for some time now, especially since I've turned 70 this year. Therefore, I am very happy to have found a competent company in Brainworx Audio GmbH that will take over and continue my products and ideas.

I would like to thank you for the support I've received over the last six years. PPG VST plug-ins and iOS apps are no longer available for purchase. We will continue to provide downloads of your previous plugin purchases until end of 2020.

However, we do not recommend updating the hosts or the operating systems, as we cannot guarantee that our products will still run perfectly.

Customers of PPG plugins will receive a mail from SendOwl, which gives more infos on how to connect to Brainworx.

The future of the iOS apps has not been decided yet.

Thank you again for your support.
    March 2020, Wolfgang Palm

  • Ah, that kind of sucks. These are expensive apps but no way I'm going to stop updating my ios just so I can continue to use ppg infinite

Yeah, I had a feeling Wolfgang was taking a step back. Seeing it all disappear though.. Bit troubling. I guess there's no option to reinstall either so that's it. The PPG apps live on my Ipad and if that dies, they're gone for good. 😬

Yeah, it’s not looking good at the moment. Big fan of Wolfgang Palm and his work. It was really cool that a heavyweight in the synth world took such an interest in iOS.

  • sad day for now, well raise a pint for the ones that stayed up on that fence until the fence came down :(

  • Infinite certainly felt like it was genuinely breaking new ground.

  • That means you get the PPG synths for 20-30 dollar in a few months maybe on a sale :)
But there are no iOS tools to see at Plugin Alliance / Brainworx. Or? Maybe the end of iOS PPGs?
I have most of his iOS apps and also my favorite for mac, Infinite Pro (the mac/windows versions offer more advanced options missing in the iOS versions).
Sad to hear but Wolfgang is a wonderful guy and i wish him all the best. He brought so many great things to synthesis. I could not believe he is already 70. Time pass by fast.

That moment where you find out an awesome app, just to see that it's vanished.

This is Samplr all over again....😥😭

Although, I'd probably be doubting if I should get this since I already had Voice Synth.

  • The questionnaire from PA recently hinted at iOS apps, I wondered why.

  • lets hope so

  • Damn this thread (products mentioned) took a turn quick. From are they having a sale, to non-buyable

  • I will shed a tear if the PPG apps eventually become behind the upgrade curve, especially WaveMapper :'(

  • Well it’s good I got wavemapper last month.

  • Here's hoping they get a brainworx rebrand and re-released.

  • Maybe it would help to reach out to them and point them over here so they can understand the following these apps have.

  • Bummer. I guess these apps need to go on the never-to-be-updated iPad I don't have...

  • Blame Dirk Ullrich, CEO of Plugin Alliance/Brainworx. He’s an elitist, having apps on iOS is beneath him.

  • How sad to be retiring while acknowledging your work will likely not be maintained or supported into the future ... so much for a ground-breaking legacy. Luckily that legacy lives on in our ears - in the unique timbres and characters of wavetables... that won't require maintenance. ..it's built-in.

Some of the investors in this technological frontier are quite bloodthirsty hungry little fellas... like ticks.

    That sucks, to be honest.

I had the other PPG Apps always on my wishlist and just not had the money left over to buy the remaining 2 or 3.

If i had known that they will disappear, i may have bought them just in time.

  • What on earth? How does that even make sense? The residual sales ought to more than cover the developer account fees.
