Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

To Pure Acid users (a hidden tip):
did you know, that holding down the Step Edit button in the Drums section, you will be able to edit additional 16 steps (backbeats)? Backbeats are steps which shifted forward by a half step between the main 16 steps.

    Cool.

  • Backbeats!
    Cool!

Any other “hidden tricks” you want to reveal? 😆

Pure Acid is the best iOS app ever created.

    Feature request:
If possible, can we get a random beat generator where we can select the type of beat (4/4, break, drop, fill, build etc.) similar to the way we choose the type of pattern to be generated for the synth.

I suppose the next step would be a “Random Render” button that automatically creates a complete track and saves the mix down to AudioShare

All the Apps on sale more then 50% discount!!!! PA too. What a Christmas!!!!
I have now all of them...but they are few, would like they be more :-)
Thanks so much @jimpavloff Enjoy these Holidays

I can only get one. Should i get GR-16 OR Pure Acid?

GR is a better deal as it’s essentially a complete Elektron studio (because of the similar sequencing abilities) in an app.

Interested in the answer to this also.

Midi's efficiency to transfer bassline slides, envelopes and accents is near zero percent. What's the point for it?

    +1

Not everything makes sense as a MIDI controller.

    Such limited thinking...

Is there a manual out yet that details all the features and capabilities?

For instance is there no length control for the drum tracks or am I just missing it?

Also, is there a way to select a drum voice so that it doesn’t sound other than the arrow buttons (like in gr how you can hold trigger button and press the voice pad)?

In stand alone, is there a way to lock tempo so all presets play at a master tempo?

  • Btw, with PA, I’d like to take a moment to thank mr. @jimpavloff for making like 2 years of work trying to build some type of integrated techno machine in iOS a couple and total waste of time.

First he made thousands of dollars of Elektron gear turn into something I just keep dust off, and now this...

I hope his next app is like $1000 so maybe I’ll have to actually think about it.

Thank god he doesn’t make porn apps... Humans would stop procreation.🤪

  • HI and HNY :) Is there a Midi Key transpose for the Pattern once written and on the loop?

  • At the moment I am copying to another pattern, hold shift and up/down arrow to transpose the copy.
This way you can live transpose to greater levels without stepping through each semitone.
Not sure if this can be done from midi cc.

Agreed! Groove Rider has all the features I liked about my Digitakt, and removes several of the frustrating limitations.

I've had Pure Acid since Christmas and adore the direct layout and vintage sound. Coincidentally, every jam I've made since Christmas has a fat acid line in it

    +1 for random beat generation.

Still loving this app, had a proper crazy session with it last night.

  • @jimpavloff I’d like to make a request... Maybe consider adding a master compressor with the ability to choose a side chain channel. It would really help in allowing the kick to punch through and give pump to the bassline... pretty please?

I discovered the hidden random beat generator! It's awesome!

    1. Select drum pad
    2. Change to edit mode
    3. Close eyes
    4. Tap fingers randomly
    5. Open eyes
    6. Repeat

Jim Pavlov is a genius! I wish all app makers would include this feature.

You're right. I forgot a step. Need to open eyes before the last "Repeat" step. I have edited my post. Please try again.
It's workin' great here. Sorry for the confusion.

    Oh...ok.. ☺️

  • Think I found a bug, or at least something that works weird...

So each drum can had fx A or B assigned levels... however nothing happens... and the A and B settings in the mixer are for the entire kit... so something seems wrong here...

  • Guess I’m first to update.. madness.. midi out..

Dude, midi out is just awesome. ;)
Does anyone know how I can only sent midi to an external synth and not here acid’s build in synth.

Not sure, but I just turn the output down. :)
Nice to have midi out from standalone, but I wonder why there's no out from the AU version. Is it more difficult to add?

Not a bug. Each pad needs to have the relative level of FXA and FXB send set as well. This allows you to have some pads more affected than others.

That's what I thought, but when you, for example, have FXA='verb, I'll have ALL drums set to zero A send, but turning up A send in mixer is still sending the drums to the verb... Thus, I can't figure out how I'd say send just hats to 'verb and not kick...

    Follow me?

I get how it's supposed to work, it just doesn't seem to be working... Like the mixer send knobs are really sub-mix FX send bus. But it's not working that way.

  • Don't use the master then. Just use the individuals.

It's simple, it just adds with the master send: drum send = individual send + master send. This is more fun, allowing to use master send for live fx fast without adjusting individuals, and also letting fine tuning of a mix (using individual sends only).

So there's no way to have JUST one drum send to FXA or FXB?

    Here's an example:

All drums have FXA and FXB turned down.
    Master sends are turned down
    FXB=Delay
I turn up FXB send on HiHat to Max... I hear no delay...
I turn up master send for B, all drums are now going to delay

Just trying to make sure I'm not doing something wrong.

*i think I may have figured it out... the fx were routed to the master and it was lp’ing so I wasn’t hearing the delays...

    All seems fine now. Thx.

  • A Jim Audio AUv3 multi-pad, multi-fx plugin would be amazing. Just saying. (cough, hinting / begging)

  • You know what's even better than pure acid?
Pure acid with troublemaker, rozetta and poison 202 in audiobus.
I maybe had the most fun jam since i bought my ipad with this combo B) .
