Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Beathawk multiple pad from midi keyboard - help needed

edited September 2019 in General App Discussion

I bought beathawk mellotron during their recent sale. I would like to play the string and the choir together from my midi keyboard like on a real mellotron. I loaded the string on pad one and the choir on pad 2 but I can’t seem to trigger both at the same time.

Anybody know if this is possible?

  • One easy way is to use two separate AU instances in AudioBus or AUM, and simply route your midi keyboard to both. There are other ways, but that’s the simplest IMO.

  • Or clone the midistream to a second channel and send both to the same instance of BeatHawk .

Sound like a good idea. Thank you

How do you clone a midistream?

Midi Clone & Filter from the Midi Tools suite is one easy way. There are others.

What host (if any) are you running Beathawk within?

Audiobus, Cubasis, Auria, AUM etc. are hosts.

Are you running BeatHawk standalone or as an AU?

Here’s a simple AudioBus preset as an illustration. Substitute your keyboard in the input slot. I assumed you meant playing them simultaneously. If you meant something different then more details will be needed if you’re still stuck.

Win asked me what host I was running Beathawk in. I was running Beathawk stand-alone but I have no objections running it in one if the 3 hosts I own.

If you do want to run it standalone, then you’ll need a standalone midi app like MidiFlow or MidiFire to clone the midi input to two separate channels. It’s easier in a host IMO, but some people prefer the larger interface of standalone apps.

Thank you Wim, your audiobus preset worked 😃👍

  • Nice!
I ended up playing with the Mello for a couple of hours last night because of that. :D

Such a classic sound. Sounds bad just in the right way.
