Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.Download on the App Store
Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
If you could send a newbie only one video about the possibilities of iOS music, what would it be?
edited June 2019 in General App Discussion
I’m looking to send someone a video that will really tease iOS music. What would you recommend to really hook them?
I knew I would be seeing this video. It’s excellent in so many ways. However, he is new to iOS, and I’m wondering if there are any videos out from old stalwarts?
We got a winner.
Great suggestions, keep them coming!
Gone With The Wind.
a favourite about SamplR
Anything from Perplex on
First thing that popped in my brain when I saw the title! He is awesome!!!
anyways, our bro @echoopera is the same level of brilliance 💪🏼 He has not rhatbmamy Videos though
Dave’s social media team is really stepping up its game.
I would suggest this:
But it depends on the type of music your friend likes (something with beats, something glitchy, something more ambient, etc.)
Hey man - it's the New Millenium. Get with the times.
YESSS!! I did mention this melodious song before.
Also, more videos demonstrating the capabilities of iOS music-making here...
Yes!! Perplex and echo!!!!
What is the recipients relationship to music? That would really be the most helpful to find inspiration. A Cello player probably generally won’t care about techno on iPad, or things like that. Some context will probably help.
well, here's a Cello player looping live with Loopy HD, the iPhone mounted to the bridge of the instrument (hard to detect by eye, but the phone's display is enlarged in the background)
Stiiiill, the best iPad performance video!
Here’s an old one of my iPad performances that I still like.
Playground is a great app for just performing ready made presets, not producing. But it perfectly uses the potential of touch screen and it could be a nice start for newbie:
Thank you everyone, this is great. I sent my friend the link, so he can choose what he wants to watch.
I did not know which video to choose from Dan Baker's EXCELLENT channel, mainly focused on garageband :
with a lot of tutorial :
That’s @ecce_cello you should see his recent setup
I'm loving the "out there" videos, they are certainly inspiring.
But not everyone has a cello. Any other ideas that don't involve any external hardware, just iPad software?
I will shamelessly put my channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjny26LzaQ5xlvZ1zi_mhRQ
All live, iOS music and demos. A couple feature an external controller, but mostly it's the iOS device only.
My gateway was Henny, who turned me onto the possibilities of iOS music, ...while Doug’s brilliant app coverage at soundtestroom turned me into an appaholic.
