Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Tag list

Added a page that renders links to all tags here https://wiki.audiob.us/all_tags

@Michael When you have a minute, can you look into installing something like https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:cloud? That "all_tags" list is pretty meh to navigate.

Cloud is now installed. I have seen some comments that on some sites that it can be slow. Try it out and let us know how it works.

  • Nice! Updated the all_tags page but perhaps the cloud belongs directly on the start page? https://wiki.audiob.us/all_tags

Nice! It probably makes sense to have it on the front page.

Re: links to the Author Tips -- since this is early days when we will hopefully getting an influx of contributors, there should probably be a prominent link towards the top of the page directing contributors to the page. I'll be working on the author_tips and related pages over the next week -- prioritizing the critical stuff to that page and creating additional pages for people that want to get a little deeper.

@InfoCheck : are you paulinko? If so, do you have an objection to deleting the tag related pages that you have created? I think dokuwiki has built in tools that we can leverage for this.

I’d like to move them to a testing area as I’d like to experiment with some ideas that aren’t ready for prime time. Where could I do that?

At one point Michael and Sebastian had issues with people being able to login to their accounts so I had to create a new one. Now this account doesn’t allow me to log into the wiki so I had to use the earlier account to do so.

create experimental pages in the playground namespace. To create a page in the playground add "playground:" before the pagename in the Add Page popup. Once you have a page in the playground, you can easily create further playground pages by simply putting in a link tag.

For instance if you are in a playground page you can add the following:

    [[anotherpage]]

When you click on that link, it'll give you a chance to create 'anothertestpage' in the same namespace.

  • @InfoCheck : what is it that you want to create? there are a number of dokuwiki features related to tag listing, maintenance and documentation

  • @InfoCheck : there is a directory called 'https' that has some pages you created. Is there anything there that needs to be preserved or can I go ahead and delete those files?

I think I moved and got rid of all of the extraneous files except two. One @wim created for Enso and the other @TheOriginalPaulB last updated so I copied it and put it in the root like the others and linked to it in the main apps tutorial page.

It’s a work in progress so it far from fully baked. I’ll look at some of those. I’ll probably work on what’s already there before even thinking about the experiment though.

    Cool

  • I don’t mind what happens to the entry I edited, I just wanted to make sure the content was right if it was visible.

Playground is the right answer, for sure, but fwiw I've been using my user page for experiments.

Thank you, sorry I was so over the top and demanding the other night. It had nothing whatsoever to do with anything on the forum and had everything to do with long standing mental health symptoms. I appreciated your comment about how nobody on here was paid as it helped me to see that I had gone way too far.

@InfoCheck : I am sorry you are having that to deal with. I understand how unpleasant that can be to deal with and am sorry if I have contributed to any stress or upset.

I really appreciate what you are contributing to this adventure.

    :)

  • Do any of you know the complete taxonomy of AU types? The current AU article is a great start. I find myself never completely sure I know how they all breakdown.

Yep yep and yep. +1 to all of this.

  • I went ahead and add the tag cloud to the start page. Also moved the site map link up to that area.

Cool. I am poking around to see if there is a better dynamic TOC that we can use besides the site map since the site map includes some folders that might invite inadvertent namespace proliferation. If anyone comes up with something that would be cool, too.

What do you think about the cloud's color? I wonder if another color might be more inviting?

:+1: Any color that isn't red would be more inviting.

Do you have access to the LESS files? If so, changing the base color variable (@c0) should generate the rest. https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:cloud#modifying_the_style

The default link color on the forum is #b1d407. We could go with that as the base?

  • @syrupcore : I am a little rusty on the dokuw styling stuff. It looks like the css stuff is all in files that aren't available from the wiki admin tools. We may have to hit @Michael up to make the necessary change.

I will look into (unless you get to it first) whether there is a dokuwiki plugin that enables css access via the the admin tools.

  • Looks like we have two options for adjusting those link colors.

    1. Hack the plugin's style.less file, adjusting that @c0 variable to a new color. Seems that's what the plugin itself is recommending on its page. This feels wrong to me but maybe that's "the dokuwiki way".
    2. Add our own custom styles to conf/userstyle.less as described here https://www.dokuwiki.org/devel:css. I assume that loads last so that user styles can override anything else.

I put together a little test page with codepen. You can mess with it here: https://codepen.io/anon/pen/OYNYLL?editors=0100

    Preview:

If it's ok, the codeblock below (or a tweaked version pulled from the codepen link) can be added to conf/userstyle.less.

    No. Only on codepen. :)

I just shared the codepen link in case anyone wanted to have a play first and comeback with an opinion as to the best 'base color' from which the lighter/darker cloud link colors are generated.

  • @InfoCheck said:

I don't believe so. At least not through dokuwiki.

  • @syrupcore : tx for looking into that. I'll take another look to see if template variables are exposed somewhere in the admin interface that I've overlooked.

  • Nice one, cheers @syrupcore! I've added it

Tx @Michael and @syrupcore . Aesthetically, that is a lot better. Ergonomically I think it would be better still if it were a notably darker shade. For my aging eyes, it is quite hard to read especially on my mobile devices. There isn't a lot of contrast.

Changing the base color to @color_cloud_base: darken(@color_AB_green, 25%); helps the contrast:

    image

If that works better, Michael just needs to add that line somewhere in the colors section.

We could also make the size differences smaller. Or at least bring up the size of the smallest.

  • @syrupcore @Michael : that is easier for me to read. Making the smallest txt bigger also seems like a good idea

  • Shouldn't the tags be smaller and darker so the contrast is enough to read them easily. Being small AND light in tone is harder to read.

Have the large tags lighter, and the smaller tags darker. 2¢
