Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

I'd love iOS a lot more if...

I could assign app screens/switching to a controller/keyboard.

Maybe possible for a host app or Shortcuts?

  • If we weren't at the mercy of Apple with hardware, iOS, and app store changes.

Are you kidding me? Have you checked Audiobus 3 or are you just a passenger? :)

Which is why I said maybe possible. :D

99% of the time I do music on my iPad I just turn it on and play, no time to dig up what might be possible. Luckily I learn what's possible from participating here. Thanks!

  • ... I could use Mac OS apps and AU plugins on it.

    Well hey that works nicely!

Now if only Flux:FX would work in Audiobus. :D

Not sure why it doesn't? Fine in AUM or other host apps.

  • Fuck I can't stand swipe up bringing up the dock. How to disable???

  • The text input keyboard doesn’t appear to enter text when a usb midi controller keyboard is attached. Its likey because it thinks a usb text keyboard is attached, but not sure why they have never fixed it.

Passenger here. 😃 Can we have more details on how to do this?

Passenger here. 😃 Can we have more details on how to do this?

    1. Enter Midi Setup.
    2. Tap the Switch Icons and Midi Map them.

I don’t actually have any apps loaded in my SS though. But you get the idea, right?

Be happy with what we already have. Limitations can be a great factor in creativity.

  • if ios devices worked as rock solid class compliant audio midi devices...

Was going to say something similar.

Desktop + iOS is an amazing workflow. Especially for Ableton users.

I’m more than delighted with what’s already possible and it keeps getting better.

Shout out to all developers big and small who have helped to create this magical ecosystem. Often for very little financial return.

Edit: I would like to see the Alchemy soundpacks returning or disappearing completely from the AppStore. The full collection including purchase button is still displayed, teasing me until the end of time.

  • if Herrmutt Lobby would release the sample import feature for Playground

and if they would make an iOS sampling beat machine with the capability of their max patch

  • If you could heat up your coffee on it.

    +2 absolutely

  • If apps didn’t stop working every couple of years because Apple changed the OS again. If you could repair the devices and not have to throw them away and get a new one when a single component fails.

  • If Apple would stop changing everything up all the time. different device form factors, disappearing home buttons/jacks/ports... things like that

I cannot love iOS more. I have everything i need. I'm missing nothing, except of enough free time. Actually i have more than i ever expected i will have in my hands. I feel less limited than i felt for 20 years on desktop...
