Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

  • Good find - not what I was expecting, but the history approach was interesting :+1:

  • David Byrne is a great speaker, lisp and all.

I love the topic of "spaces."

One part he didn't really delve into is that a lot of concert halls & big live rooms are designed so that the orchestra play in a zone that is free from reverberation.

  • If you're creating music in a genre that is supposed to sound like it's in a real place, you should be careful with the reverb in that regard. If you're creating music that has no implied space, you can do whatever you want that sounds good.

That’s intriguing. Hall has always been my favorite ‘verb. Now I feel an internal conflict brewing, lol. You know, up top, in my Talkin’ Head.

  • This is a useful (very short) breakdown of practically all those different reverb types used in digital context:
