Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

No heating caused by Gadget on iOS 12?

Is it me, my healthy ipad pro 9.7, or battery drain/ heat issues in Gadget are gone since iOS 12?

  • Funny that you should mention that. I noticed the same last night when messing around with Gadget! My Air 2 was very cool and not too hot to touch :)

Model 15 used to make my Air 2 very hot but now it’s way cooler. Will have to do more testing but it feels good!

  • Ahh, now that sounds good.

I recorded a jam last night on my Air2 - KEW, Patterning, Spacecraft and a couple of Turnados, and it was very hot after 5 minutes of playing.

SE seems good after the update - time to sort out the iPad too I reckon.

  • Typical - I get plagued by update pop-ups when I don’t want them, and now when I try to update it just gets stuck in ‘update requested’.

  • I'm loving how well my air2 runs now. The only annoying thing Is that double tapping the home button no longer brings up the control panel. You have to swipe from the top right down.

I've already gotten used to the changes :)
Seems like I can keep my Air 2 for quite some time to come before it's time to 'upgrade'.

The way I'm looking at this is to reduce the total number of devices to manage and thus be able to focus.
If the rumours are true that the next gen iPad Pro's will supports displays over USB-C I might end up using my current 24" monitor with the iPad Pro and BT keyboard and get a USB-C hub for connecting the other stuff.
(The iPad would then be like a giant trackpad lol).

That would be so cool :) Might try to eek out my Air2 until the next ipads get here too.

Yepp, and if the rumoured iLogicProXLite (or what ever it will be called) gets released for the iPad I'll consider going iPad Only as there's just a handful of apps I really rely on (Renoise is one of them) that simply ain't available on iOS.

  • Just updated my first gen Pro ... feels like an upgrade, I wonder what horribly inefficient code was fixed? :p

  • My Air 2 definitely seems a lot smoother, I've also noticed something in Cubasis, not sure if it is iOS12 or the recent cubasis update, but when I'm hitting the CPU limit I am not getting crackling anymore but getting audio drop out instead...much better on the ears :)

  • Managed to install the update, looking forward to testing this out later. Might even whip Gadget out for a spin.

Just managed to load up two instances of Model 15, triggered via SPA and Rozeta without crackling or a crash until I added a third. Couldn't do that before, adding a second instance was instant crackle fest.

Mucking about in Gadget, I'm getting about 2 minutes use per 1% of battery. Slightly warm...but nowhere near as hot as the battery was getting before. If I can squeeze an hours use of Gadget in, and not overheat the iPad then Gadget's back in the toolbox.

  • My iPhone 7 Plus stays pretty cool with Gadget, nice improvement!!

  • Unfortunately no difference for me with iOS12. Couple of minutes playing Lisbon and my Pro 9.7 gets hot.
The CPU going to 90% in attached pic is when I play Lisbon.
Also notice the battery % (green line), going from 92% to 84% in 6 minutes.

Strange. Are you running ver. 3.6.2?

    Yes

  • Beside ipad model it worths mentioning if using an external usb audio device or not ...

  • A couple of Lexingtons (Odyssei) inside Gadget would be a good test too...

  • I’ll give Gadget a proper test tonight.

Haven’t noticed any improvement on battery life on the SE today, by the way.

No, battery life has not improved for me, neither on my iPad pro nor on my iPhone. But on the other hand: no crashes so far and no apps gone down or data lost, so compared to previous ones this should qualify as a positive update :#

I’m getting mixed messages from you guys.
I’m on air2 latest ios11, I can record Xequencer running 2 model15 and a zeeon, with highest latency, but it heats up a lot (my mixtape may be the reason, though), and the battery goes down fast.
If I can squeeze another couple of synths, and have battery and heating thing fixed I’d be happy, but seems not everyone is seeing improvement...

But at least I haven’t heard any reports of it getting worse, so I might as well go for it and see for myself. Maybe apple went easy on the controlled obsolescence code, this time...

  • I've spent more time with Gadget and you are right. Battery life hasn't improved at all, but what I still believe is my iPad hadn't been this cool after 40-60 min. of use.

Yeah, I don’t like running old versions, so being up to date with no loss in performance is good enough for me.

Shame about the battery life, but good to hear about the heat thing - that always worried me and was the reason I stopped using Gadget

I’m only using my iPad. Nothing connected, wired or Bluetooth.

Have you played live on Lisbon for 5+ minutes?

Leave off the porn and it will stay cool.

Just ran two instances of Model D in AUM, with no crashing or crackling.

So there’s been a measurable performance boost on my Air 2 - I couldn’t run two of those before, or two Model 15’s without crackling.

    Game on.

  • Mine 10.5 Pro stays cooler (I THINK) in Gadget
Just played around fo about 30 minutes with multiple Lisbon’s and Lexington

    Loving iOS12 so far (GaMeChAnGeR)
