Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Panning utility on IOS

I’m wondering whether there is an audio editing app that allows to change the panning of an audio file.

I know that DAWs can do it. What I’m really looking for is a audio editing app like Audioshare or Twisted wave that allows that functionality via open in or audio copy etc.

Thanks

  • AUM might be usable for re-recording a file and changing the panning....maybe?

  • Ok. I can’t work it out from the description. Does it actually do a straight panning or is it only stereo field enhancer?

I’m asking because Audio Mastering does image inhancement but on both channel at the same time.

    EUREKA!

Final Touch does that easily by unlinking faders in stereo img module or on master fader.

    Cheers for the quick reply.

It seems you're sorted, but to answer your question, it's actual panning, not just shifting the balance.

Ok. One more thing. Do I need to buy the full version or will MINI suffice?

  • Ah I get it. One is iPhone and other iPad. Off to AppStore

  • Pants. It has no audio import!

I’ll keep it for other uses.

  • I don't have Mini, so I'm not sure if there are any differences other than device compatibility.

Here's a couple of items of interest from the app's website:

    http://stereodesignerapp.com

Independent panning position of each channel, allowing for interesting stereo placement.

This is what I've been searching for! This app is unique in what it can do (as far as I know) in the App Store. I'm a big fan of this dev's previous apps but to me this is the most useful of all: I'm primarily a guitarist & have been craving a way to get stereo widening for my guitars on iOS - there hasn't been a really good way to do it until now, but this app meets that very specific need wonderfully. Yes, you can double track guitar parts and pan hard left and right manually (& I will continue to do so at times) but this app is extremely useful for creating that elusive very tight stereo panned effect! Fan-ruddy-tastic! This is really top drawer & would make a fine addition to ANY recording set-up (let alone iOS recording). Can also add depth & sparkle to any other types of sounds, instruments or recordings - I'd highly recommend this app to any iOS musician. NB. Do remember to check your stereo recordings on a mono speaker as well though - what sounds amazing on a pair of stereo headphones might sound downright weird on a mono speaker.

I'm looking for a audio file editing /processing app. Basically send off via open in or audio copy, process and send the file back to the original app.

While writing this I realised loopy can do that. I imagine one will have to deselect fit imported loop option.

You can process with it into something easy on system resources like AUM, Audioshare, or MTD. The app itself it very CPU friendly. AB3 support, too! Have I sold you yet?

A while ago! I’ve bought it but won’t be able to use it in a way I wanted.
Anyway I’m sure a simple solution will emerge as we go through time zones and others chime in ;)

  • Would MiMiX be useful for what you're looking to do?

Yeah, I just suggested this as a work around option for someone without other apps that process it. It’s amazing the myriad of little uses AUM can help out with in a push :)

  • Ok, so for now the best Ive found is Audio Mastering. It generally treats the file as a single stereo input but it does 2 fader Control in the input section.

The bad bit is that it only goes down to -6db which means that hard panning is not an option.

The good thing is that open in in Audio Master8ng shows Samplr as one of the options.

    The search continues @kobamoto

  • What about hokusai with the 2nd pro pack, I've got the first one so I'm not sure if it's what your looking for as I can't test it.

    :D

  • Would Loopy -> pan track internally -> AB Input -> Loopy AB output -> record panned version work?

I dunno. Have you tried it? What I’m trying to do is to find a simple way to pan samples from Samplr and import them back in without too much fuff.

I haven't. Should work but doesn't exactly meet the 'without too much fuff' requirement.

Might also work: Open-in MulitTrack DAW, pan the track as needed, Mixdown, share, open-in samplr? Any DAW should be able to do this. Suggesting MTD because of the speed.

I know what you mean. I was trying to work out a way to do it ‘in the heat of the moment’. Not quite live but as if using an editor in say BM3 just instead of double tapping on a waveform just tapping open in to open the file in a specialised app to be then reimported at a tap or two.

Similar to this video in my other thread

  • Mtd is only a couple of extra steps.

There goes Will trying to disrupt the space-time continuum again...

Trying to develop a bit of a workflow you know. I bet Samplr’s gonna get panning or separate outs by that pagan festivity otherwise known as Christmas.

Been sitting on santa’s lap for years asking for that one and been panned every time.
