Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Sample Tank - Audiobus issue with frame values

Hi,

using Sample Tank with MiMix at 44,1 KHz, 256 frames on an iPad 2, iOS 9.3.5 (no update available for the iPad 2, but all used software is up-to-date) with a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, everything works without issues. No other software is running on the iPad. The Focusrite is connected by ADAT in/out without WC, its S/PDIF out and its MIDI in to a RME HDSPe AIO of a Linux PC, but actually just MIDI is used and headphones or amp are directly connected to the Focusrite. If I want to add an additional virtual iPad synth, I need to increase the frames to get rid of shuttering. Unfortunately Sample Tank does shutter at any other value, than 256 frames, even at low DSP load. Other apps work at 512 frames, tested with NTBYF and iMini. Is there a way to get Sample Tank working at other frame values than 256, too?

Regards,
Ralf

  • Hi,

as a workaround I replaced Audiobus and MiMix with AUM. SampleTank still only works with 256 frames, but there are far less drop outs, so it's possible to work on the song and later to record one instrument after the other, to get rid of all drop outs.

    Regards,
    Ralf

  • Poor old iPad 2 barely cuts it any more.
