Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Deeptime i + dRm V Karplus - Rough with the Smooth

Here are the finishing touches.

5 x DeepTime i synths on the Air 3 and 8 x dRm V on the 9.7" iPad Pro.

Almost all of the parameters are mapped to eight User scenes on the LC XL to the left
and straight ahead mixing duties on the LC XL on the right.
The performance itself is not at as smooth as I would like but
it does show the depth of synthesis available at our fingertips.
The sound is entirely synthesised, no samples used.
The sound was recorded directly of my monitoring mixer hence why the volume level is low.

Turn it up.

  • Wow… what is a Deeptime synth? I love these synth sounds.

dVRm is a drum app you built right?

A Deeptime synth is one of my designs in dRambo which
was inspired both by the Juno 6 and Deepmind 12.
I haven't come close in the designs but the synth I did design
well...you've heard it in action so to speak.
I'm glad you like the sounds because there's a lot going on.

dVRm is a drum app you built right?

Yup I did build it but it's not an app per se as it is in dRambo.
dRm V and it's sibling dRm V Karplus was inspired by G.A.S.
I really wanted an analog drum machine and whilst I was "window shopping"
I found myself designing a subtractive drum synth which I've called "dRm V"
and the other one is additive synthesis which unimaginatively I called,"dRm V Karplus".

    They are fun to play.

Digging deep into Drambo pays off. I know @rs2000 can do magic with Drambo but I can see you’ve struck gold as well.

@rs2000 is a really good mentor.
His guidance throughout this journey is superb.
It's like he knows what I need.
    It's brilliant.

He’s followed the evolution of the tech and was primed to build in Drambo.

    Yeah, agreed.
I am always amazed at his knack of creating the right tool.

There’s no substitute for experience and when it comes to modern tech I have none but
It seems I can just wait and AI will make the music on demand for any genre. So, I wait.

  • Sounds great! Nice use of the stereo field.

Yeah, I'm starting to get to grips with different combinations of effects modules.
One of the effects has four FDN modules that drone when sound goes through them
and I can play chords with them and then they go into a delay feedback with filter.
    More on that later.
It's bonkers but the sound is wild and I've roped in
my ancient Lexicon MPX 200 for the DeepTime synths.
    It sounds lush.
dRm V Karplus has Spatializer on it's Master Bus which thickens the sound.

There are more subtle effects going on especially with the synths themselves as
two of the oscillators are standard oscillators and the third one is a wavetable oscillator
with unison on max so you can get, visually one would say "depth of field",
really nice placement of the synth sounds themselves.
Interestingly enough I've just realised I haven't used any panning.
    Anyway... :)

They say patience is a virtue but why wait when there's so much music out there.
Whether it's modern or ancient, music is just...there.

  • I type while listening. This is super impressive. I can imagine Michel Cusson playing some crazy solo over this track with his guitar plugged in your synths.

I haven’t heard of Michel Cusson before.
    Thanks for the recommendation.

  • “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic“… this is what most of this looks like to me but the sounds are tremendous.
I agree with @jo92346 , the first 10 minutes of so would be great for putting a solo over.

  • This is way cool, nice work @Gravitas . Like the video angle/lighting too
