Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Wires by AudioThing and Hainbach (Released)

Made originally for military and secret service use across the Iron Curtain, in the hands of a few avant garde musicians it became a magical lofi-tool and ghostly echo machine. Now this rare and rather finicky to operate piece of hardware is coming to iOS for the first time as a faithful yet modern plugin.

  • I await obedientlyly!

  • edited December 2022

Check this Youtube, where Hainbach does a demo on his original unit where Wires is based on.

  • Can't wait! 🤩

  • I’m here for the skeuomorphism…delicious

  • Here is a link where Hainbach is using the Wires beta.

  • And everyone seems to overlook what to me is way more interesting...
...playing Fluss as an 'instrument' using the keyboard :sunglasses:

I would love it if this was possible…

    Yup, excited about that.

Wait, Fluss is getting a keyboard mode/MIDI note input?! 🔥

Daamn! That's most excellent! 😎 Fluss won't just be for live Ambient jams soon.

Check the linked Twitter post, you can clearly see it, using the AUM keyboard to change the pitch...

(Of course the Wires cameo is the big news here, but did you see Fluss being played via MIDI there? )

  • Amazing news!
When will this update be released @brambos ?
    Can’t wait😃

    Oh sweet!

  • Ohh myy.. 2 great great news in 1

  • Slight diversion (and proof that we're living in a simulation and the storylines are now just repeating themselves with slightly different details):

Story on the NYT front page today about a guy who bought a military-grade biometric kit on eBay.

For Sale on eBay: A Military Database of Fingerprints and Iris Scans
German security researchers studying biometric capture devices popular with the U.S. military got more than they expected for $68 on eBay.

  • But with the addition of midi in, surely envelopes are needed!

  • Hell yeah, I’m super excited for Wires

Could be for transposition only and global transport on/off controls if it plays or not. If that's the case envelopes are secondary.
But it would be nice with 3 note chords, one for each playhead or something?!

I guess you know a bit more than the rest of us already?! :sunglasses:

It will be interesting to see the pricing.

Same. It's on my GAS list. The ultimate Lofi effect. 😂

  • What a brilliant idea to make this 🤔👍😀

  • Sounds like another lofi filter. Hard to get excited for that; I already must have five apps like this. What am I misunderstanding here?

More than a filter - echo, saturation, wow/ flutter etc. But more interestingly its just a very specific, distinct character from an obscure piece of niche hardware :)

  • It travels from the right to the left! My dad had one of the very first reel to reel tape recorders and it ran right to left, they had no truly decided which way a tape machine should run, sadly the oppted for left to right. It did however mean that is tape recorder was unique but unable to play any commercial tapes since the songs would be backwards. I remember he said to me at the time Son copyright is now dead!
My father was an incredible man since he also said “If you can record an entire orchestra on a piece of tape then those sounds might already exist on the tape”
Pity my dad never met Hainbach they would have got on like a house on fire.
Can’t wait for wires and Gauss is playable with keys?

the modeling of non-linear magnetic recording mechanisms. It reacts dynamically to input and there is a special tone to the thin wire and vacuum tube output stage of the machine replicated. All of Hainbach’s emulations are of quite rare, eclectic, and quirky machines not found commonly in most places
