Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Looking For Topics For Next Roundtable Podcast

Hey everyone, we got a new Mobile Music Roundtable Podcast coming up and I'm trying to get the guests on from BabyAudio, Klevgrand and Scaler 2 and I'm looking for topics to discuss from the community. What do you guys want us to talk about?

Comments

  • Ideas for topics/Questions:

    • Will we see more desktop developers putting their products on iOS?
    • Is iOS now a “default” platform, or is there still some cost/benefit analysis that these devs do before deciding to put something on this platform?
    • A quick walkthrough of how they develop an app from scratch — do they start with desktop and get it working correctly on that platform and then move it to iOS? Or vice versa?
    • iOS payment models for economic sustainability — pricing has historically been a fraction of desktop. IAPs vs. subscriptions for new features is one sub-topic here.
    • What feedback do these devs get from full-time industry people about how much they use iOS for their work?

These are really excellent! Thanks so much :)

Discussion on the decrease of music software related iOS apps being released the last couple of years.

  • Are iOS apps that also can function on MAC with a M chip a gift or a burden for iOS musicians?
I could imagine that iPad's will grow towards a gesture/multitouch instrument or controller for the PC/Mac, and that DAW's, classic synths and fx make a transition to PC/MAC because of their horsepower.

  • I would be interested to learn about their own music-making workflows, including how they decide to curate their app collections, and how their work on the development side informs how they make music.

Great topic and we did discussed this a bit before on a previous episode and the conclusion was that instead of getting a bunch of mediocre apps every year, we getting fewer but they're more high quality apps.

Maybe for a future discussion…MPE and iOS.

Dolby Atmos options for iOS? Are developers even thinking about it, or is it just not even of interest?

  • What advice would they give to aspiring iOS music app developers? What languages / frameworks should they learn to make their apps as portable as possible. (The point on developing an app from scratch is an excellent question from @willetsjm ) Think we need to get their views on how we can encourage more developers in this space and how the proverbial question on payment models is influencing or potentially putting good developers off entering the iOS space.

  • A couple of questions. Thank you for asking. (And please don’t talk about price anymore lol. It has been done to death and I find it quite boring 🙂)

Why don’t developers collaborate more according to their strengths? For example, the innovative sound design of Igor Vasiliev combined with the UI design of Baby Audio, etc.

How can developers better utilize the possibilities of the touch screen interface?

    Agreed.
A Dolby Atmos encoder would be really cool.
During a conversation with Heff Moraes (Business Development Manager for PMC)
he had mentioned that Dolby Atmos responds to midi information.

Hey Gus, fantastic questions. It's funny you should say that about price though because almost everyone in this thread so far wants to talk more about pricing models lol.

  • Are there any more new ideas for music apps, or has basically everything now been done?

A few of these are things I was thinking as well…

  • Maybe something about the process of taking one app idea, out of the proverbial idea hat, and turning it into an app. Decision process in the early stages? As well as once they have the idea they want to run with, where they start?

    • What a developer is working on? What they might be releasing soon? Upcoming announcements?

    • Apps they use the most? (Can’t pick your own)

    • their favorite developers? (Can’t pick yourself, lol)

    • Maintaining a sustainable music app market for both developers and consumers?

    • what are things developers would like consumers to understand about the development process? And getting an app to market?

  • What’s the hardest part about learning to create iOS music apps? A lot of people seem to be interested in it, but few seem to know exactly what’s involved.

+1 MPE extravaganza. Breath Controllers. EWIs. Lumi. Roli. Linnstrument. Joue. DIY or alternative MPE solutions and the companies making it possible. And maybe a rundown of MPE plugins available.

Also, an Audiokit clinic would be great for the community. Even if we had to pay admission, most of us would be down to be shown step by step how to make our own app

Get Beepstreet on! Get Igor on! Or the developer of Toool, or the team behind Flow Machines, or dudes from MazeTools, someone from Klevgrand or Apesoft

Def get creator of Polyplayground, Mike Gao aka Migamo

    Let’s talk about patchstorage!
