Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Sorry - Indie Rock 🎸 🎤

An uptempo track with my usual shoegazy vibe, but underneath the modulated guitars it's a pretty straightforward pop song. I worked very hard on trying to write catchy vocal melodies.

Guitars and vocals tracked in Auria, drums and synths created in NS2 (with 4Pockets Multitrack studio in lieu of audio tracks for the guitars). Back to Auria for the final mix.

Lyrics in the spoiler, thanks for listening:

You reached out, you touched my face
You told me I was a disgrace
That I caused so much sorrow
I left you feeling hollow

How? You ask me, can this be true?
You know me, and I think that I know you too

I wanted to tell you that something was wrong
But what can I say when I’m feeling so dumb?
So I threw you away
I regret it every day
There’s just one thing I can say
I’m sorry, I’m sorry

You called me out, you said to me
I treated you so callously
I was never faithful
Loving me was painful

Why? You ask me, can’t I be true?
You hurt me and that means I just can’t trust you

I wanted to tell you that something was wrong
But what can I say when I’m feeling so dumb?
So I threw you away
I regret it every day
There’s just one thing I can say
I’m sorry, I’m sorry

I wasn’t with you, I wasn’t there
I wasn’t with you because I didn’t care

I wanted to tell you that something was wrong
But what can I say when I’m feeling so dumb?
So I threw you away
I regret it every day
There’s just one thing I can say
I’m sorry, I’m sorry

I’m sorry

  • I like this a lot. Sounds like a real band playing. Thoughtful lyrics. It has a Smithereens vibe to it. Brings back good memories.

  • I like your singing. How do you process your vocals?

Thanks! The vocal processing is very simple: I use the LA2 compressor in Mixbox, followed by a tilt-shelf EQ to add a touch of brightness and then DDMF MagicVerb on a send, and I usually use a different chamber (in MagicVerb) for the verse and chorus, darker in the verse, brighter in the chorus. That’s it 😀

Really great stuff! Reminds me a bit of Pavement. Very 90s feel.

Same thought! Great, innovative drum part, too.

  • Nice job! A catchy tune, for sure.

I love sequencing my own drums, I've made some kits in NS2 using both free and commercial libraries, and it's a really terrific app for drum sequencing since you can tap out the rhythms on the pads with velocity mapped to the Y axis, so you get very natural feeling drum parts.

My template for dynamic drums is a mixture of Galaxie 500 (Krukowski is my all-time favourite drummer) and contemporary post-rock bands like God Is An Astronaut - bands that really use the drums to drive the dynamics in their songs.

  • lovely song, as always!
