Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Which arpeggiators/sequencers/delays advance the playhead on midi trigger?

I have become entranced by Zoa’s new golden ratios feature, but it won’t sync with the AUM host clock due to the nature of the thing. So to sync it with other apps requires other apps that permit a midi trigger in place of the host clock.

So far I’ve had luck with some of the Rozeta apps: Particles, Bassline, LFO, and Cells. Rozeta Rhythm will also do it but sounds bad because the rhythms don’t sync. Rozeta Arp lacks a midi trigger.

Are there any other arpeggiators or sequencers besides Rozeta that have this feature? Any delays that have midi trigger sync instead of host clock sync?

It's not an arp, but the Hypno Sequence Mozaic script lets you put in a sequence of notes, then move through the sequence one note at a time.

Also, any of the bazillion sequencers in miRack can substitute a note trigger for clock input, which can then be used to send out midi notes to other plugins. (Example here if you're interested.)

Drambo can do this kind of thing too with some of it's modules, by substituting clock input with a CV trigger.

Ah thanks. I keep meaning to learn MiRack.

Is gate length exposed to CC control in Hypno? That’s the main thing missing in the Rozeta sequencers’ midi implementation.

Gate length can be changed by sending CC to the Knob 2 AU parameter.

Suhweet. I’m getting ridiculous mileage out of sending multiple midi streams to a monophonic sound source and letting them fight it out. Variable gate length will definitely up my game.
