Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

"Music That Fish ... To" a thread in search of an album

I heard this interview on NPR with musician Jon Hopkins about his new album called
"Music for Psychedelic Therapy" and I then listened to the whole album while
doing my driving around and some chores. It's music that doesn't draw attention to itself... music for bathing in. So, later I took a shot at playing few notes and building up a nice sonic bath myself. I exclusively used @Spidericemidas patches for the excellent Continua Synth and one track of a Roli Noise "Hybrid Acoustic" package "Strings with Choir" preset and drenched everything in the @FredAntonCorvest FAC Alteza reverb.

I hope it puts you to sleep or guides you successfully through a theory session. There are probably a few surprises since I added one track of bell-like synth.

True... but the fish jump out of the tank when that dissonance put them in a tizzy.
I consider that to be a mistake in fish slumber solemnity but I can see why you would
be seeking something outside of the traditional scale I was selecting from.

There's a good probability you drifted off and woke up at 1:35.

Maybe I should make a "Music for the @Linearline to Stay Alert With".

People are asking for clarification on the title of this thread...

    > "featuring the amazing @SpiderIceMidas Continua Presets"

"Did you mean that @SpiderIceMidas or Continua or the Presets are amazing?"

And the answer is: It's not an "or" construction but an "and" construction. YMMV.

NOTE: If you use @SpiderIceMidas 3 times in a comment he appears within
    48 hours.

  • I used to have an old Windows fish screen saver; the fish never slept. Once I ate them for dinner and that was it, I've been a Mac user ever since.

  • QUESTION......could you reproduce some of these sounds with either a Korg or Moog type synth /plugin?

@LinearLineman - I tried a multi-layered improvisation and it came out as "Music That Fish Dance To". Still... not enough dissonance for your tastes.

I could be on the threshold of a complete "Music That Fish..." album. I just need 6-8 more verbs that sound like plausible Fish activity.

  • Drums take all my attention. But you’re a drummer. Does it hold up without the drums? Maybe jazz drummer instead?

If you have ever had a aquarium then you probably had the occasional "floater". When my kids were little and they saw one I'd just tell them that it was snorkeling.

    "Music That Fisk Snorkel To"

But seriously, someone asked about Pitchshifters and Whammy pedal FX and I remembered
that @FredAntonCorvest (and some others) have these cool pitch artifacts when you change the "size" parameter in their reverbs. So, I tied a 2 Rozeta LFO's to 2 FAC Altezas to turn the "size" knob. It make these surreal sounds that some synths also make.

  • That is a very nice wash of sound to float around in and drift away to.

    Yes, I thought 1:35 would get @LinearLineman ‘s attention.

I thought 1:35 was actually a nice twist as a slight ripple or disturbance in the water which briefly raises a heavy eyelid and is then harmlessly absorbed back into the background, sort of like a brief threat, a passing Shark in the fish tank, perhaps, or maybe a curious feline face appearing at the glass...and then all is well and settled again.

    😃👍

  • A nice theme emerging here… couldn’t tell if the first one was in minor, pentatonic or just some random fish scales?

  • @McD WOW! This is really beautiful. I want much more of this.

Do you know Sonic Boom from Spacemen 3? If not, check this out; it adds the sometimes pushing the envelope toward the edge that true exploration requires, at times, too, particularly Beyond the Pale, on which Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine also plays.

Apologies if this is remedial, but maybe it won’t be for others who dig this.

It was a mistake. It could be considered malpractice by someone using psychedelics.
Thankfully, we're a pretty sober group here, right?... Bueller...

Thanks! As I wrote my inspiration was Jon Hopkins new album. I'll have to check for these artists on Apple Music since the only content service I don't pay for is Spotify. Still, the links might work with commericials. I'll check.

Raise your fin if you remember Surf Music!

It's chaotic because you can get over 600 Sardines surfing on a single wave
but they still say "Whoa" together in schools. The schools compete in
"conferences". Surf season runs from March 15th to March 14th every year.

  • "Music That Fish Flash/Scratch To"

We had a Koi Pond and when we can fish flashing/scratching themselves we knew we had a problem:

Flashing is a behavior fish utilize to itch their bodies, most commonly associated with parasitic infections. Since they do not have limbs or nails, they must use their environment to scratch themselves. ... If left untreated, flashing fish are likely to get worse and can die from flashing too severely.

  • "Music That Fish Ascend To(wards)"

  • "Music That Fish Migrate To"

  • A really fun series. No one would ever say… “Ewww, too icthy!”

I am having a bit of fun here... good to see you get that.

I think I need to polish this off with "Music That Fish Spawn To" with a raunchy tenor sax. The Koi would lay eggs and then the High Fin Spotted Plecostomus would come along and vacuum them up. The Plecostomus was build for even a California Winter and he didn't last to eat them forever. They look like little sharks... If I had another one, I'd call him "Proud Boy" because of the camo and the fact that he's a bottom feeder.

  • Don’t get koi with me.

    Very nice!

Last year I end up with this, "size" knob magic :)

  • Mui frescas, Alfredo.

  • It sounds really good to me also.

    'tis soothing to the ear.

    Thoroughly enjoyed this piece.
