Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

hi i have new music

edited July 2015 in Creations

hello my name is _maiden and i uploaded an album to bandcamp today

it's called "reaching."
https://blanksmaiden.bandcamp.com/album/reaching

it's drone/witch house/trap ("clams casino"-ish) and you can have it for free if you want.

i composed it with an ipad but arranged and mixed it in ableton live.
i used samplr for most of the melodies and korg gadget's bilbao for the drums. piano parts were either performed with an acoustic piano by a friend or by myself using korg gadget's marseille. bass synths were made using sunrizer and hexaglyphics. parts were recorded into ableton using musicIO. audiobus was used to capture gadget/sunrizer/hexaglyphics bits into samplr.

although it's arranged in ableton live i don't feel comfortable performing with ableton live. i may upload videos of performing some of the songs with an ipad + arturia beatstep.

i hope that you listen to it and maybe even enjoy it :)

I'm going to give this a serious listen. I'm very happy because you wrote "witch house" and i thought wtf is that. Looked it up and realized that's exactly what i've been looking for. Now i've got a genre i can believe in. Thank you.

edit: so far I'm digging it, thx again

No idea what any of that means but I pressed play and chose HOUND EYES for me. I enjoy the Groany voices that made up the tune. The drums seemed fairly generic samples compared to the rest of the sounds but maybe those are the rules for this sub-genre of whatever it is?

Anyway good stuff and I probably would have kept listening if band camp hadn't stopped playing 3/4 through the track.

  • Great stuff man! I really enjoy this style and I think you nailed it. Good beats, but the textures and atmosphere is where it sounds really good. I started following you on Soundcloud and look forward to more.

  • Nice job!

  • Totally digging this. "wanna want to" is my favorite so far.

  • This is exceptionally good! I used to listen to a bit of Salem, love the dark atmospheres and very low subs with witch house grooves

So far, fruitless comparison is the track that stands out

    Very well done!

  • thank you guys :). i listened to it with a friend today and i just kept facepalming thinking "i messed the mixing up so bad" lol

"wanna want to?" samples christian radio broadcasts over a survival radio. the bells in "fruitless comparison" are from here:

In all honesty I thought the mix was good. Sometimes in this genre I think the mix might be a little harsher or not as crisp because of all the atmospherics. The drums and high hats came through nicely.

    Agreed.

  • @blanksmaiden I'm not experienced enough to know about all the intricacies of mixing etc but it all sounded great to me.

That strangled goat sound at the start of "Wanna want to" is wonderful. The warped children's nursery rhyme tune running through "Fruitless Comparison" is eerily hypnotic & would make it into a Chucky type horror film.

My personal favs are "Hound eyes" & "Always waiting." I think you've done a fantastic job & will listen again tonight after work. It's always a buzz when I totally enjoy something from a different genre that I dont normally listen too. That's what's great about this place. Massive thumbs up from my ears & senses. :)

  • Crom! That is haunting and lovely!

  • That is a really well put together album. Variety of stuff going on but very coherent. Will be taking another listen for sure

  • @blanksmaiden, I love this, thank you for sharing. Played it on my radio show last week and it sounds great loud in the car. ++

  • This is impressive stuff. Stylistically coherent, dense, strange, evocative (of what I'm not sure) and everything feels like it's in its right place, that it's there for a reason. It feels very mature and fully-formed, almost like you know what you're doing :)

If I have one criticism (and I'm desperate to find something) it's that, as @jocphone mentioned, some of the drum samples sound a bit stock and generic and not really in keeping with the otherworldliness of the rest of it, and for that reason I give it a 2 out of 10.

Nah, I'm joking, it's really really good, and I hate you for it :)
