Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Test Recording Using Only External Gear i.e Drums, Guitar, Keys, Bass and Vocals, Audiobus, Cubasis

edited March 2013 in Creations

A test recording to see how it would sound if we recorded with real instruments using just Audiobus and Cubasis..So we used an Alesis iDock, Behringer C1 condenser mic, Yamaha APX Acoustic, Peavy Grind Bass, Roland GW8 and a Roland TDK 9 drum kit. So into Audiobus guitar was ran through Stompbox and the Bass through Jamup. all other FX were done with Cubasis..Jo wrote the song about some people who did us over along time ago..I played the instruments so don't expect musical genius..it's OK though we think...

  • Cool - great work all round!

  • Yeah. Great job! Hard to believe it's all live. I pretty much hated the song but that's just personal preference. Really really good job.

  • Thanks..yeah it is live..well, it's multitracked..all done to a click track first..only two key tracks, a flute patch and some strings, basic drum patern and then I overdubbed some of the high hats with the Roland, the 16ths part..I must state that I am not a guitarist or bass player, but thats probably obvious lol, I think as a test it works well and with some more effort and maybe Auria we could get some better results..I have a Korg wavedrum mini which I think would sound real nice.. Anyway Ryan it does give you an idea of using Cubasis as a good recording option..the Alesis iDock is not ours we lent that..but I found something that may interest you..I have been looking at the Behringer UCA222 USB Interface which lets you record stereo instruments into the iPad through the standard Camera Connection Kit..the coolest thing is that it only cost £24 UK, so what about 40 dollars, now thats good value..

  • Wow, really nice work!

Kinda bright/trebley mix to my ears. The high hats are a little overbearing at times.

Impressive stuff though... inspires me to do some recording!

  • Great job and i liked the song :)

@thesoundtestroom Hey that's cool. :-) Yeah it doesn't really give me a better idea of Cubasis. I'm sure whatever DAW you used it would've sounded great.. I'm more interested in seeing how you navigate it and how the tracks get set-up when it's connected. :-) The berhinger UCA222 USB looks great for the price, it's a shame that it's only RCA in.. but yeah still crap loads better then iRig.. iRig is absolutely useless with my iPad, works much better with iPhone. I blame the slanted ipad input.. Anyhow I'm going to have to see if i can actually get one in my town.. I'm so impatient i have a hard time ordering anything. :-) Can you ask the loaner if I can borrow the Alesis dock next? Just fed-ex it to me in canada and I'll give it back when I'm done (I'll never be done) LOL

  • The iDock is cool, but Its a lot of money for me to spend on that..that test was to see if it was easy to get a half decent sound..In fact if I was going to get something like that I think I may be tempted by the Alesis EIE..that looks nice and i'm sure it was talked about somewhere on here..what I have recording wise is a Boss BR1600, and a little Tascam DP008. So normally all recording would be done in the Boss then transfered over the PC And Mastered with Izotope Ozone..but I really love working and playing with the iPad..We have a video on our Youtube channel, a kind of tour of the old studio in Spain..we still use all the gear in that, but that was before the iPad and lots of other bits and pieces..its worth a look just to see me talking like an idiot..it was the first vid we did..I am gonna do a Cubasis video real soon..it will be the next one..

  • @thesoundtestroom The EIE is by Akai not Alesis, and it is a really nice audio/midi interface. I had the Alesis IO dock and sent it back after a week. The EIE has more inputs and outputs than you probably need. Very happy with that purchase and it looks really cool too.

  • @thesoundtestroom Yeah, I'd love to have a nice audio dock.. currently my only choice is iRig which just demotivates me when I think about adding some real guitar or vocals. I really need an upgrade.

@mgmg4871 Hello sir, I'd like to apply for sponsorship. I will end every song with "sponsored by mgmg4871" LOL seriously, how you afford all that stuff? Drug dealer? Contract Killer? Investment Banker? Brad Pitt's Hair Stylist? Sup dude?!? ;-)

All of the above. Lol. Seriously, by occupation a bridge painter. Statistically a short life span. Might as well have fun. I was going to surprise you with a pic, but don't know how or if its allowed.

Then you would put the closing triangle bracket but I can't do it or it will show an error question mark. Make sure you preview before you post so you know it worked correctly. Also note the pic would have to be hosted on some site somewhere, right-click, copy image link...
