Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

I’ve got the S1 synth, and the ability to hook it up via a single direct USBC cable to the iPad and have it be its own interface makes for pain free integration into AUM sessions. This looks like it could do the same thing. Interesting…
almost perfect until you see the sample memory...
very interesting, 8 voice per step poly. you can do some octatrack stuff on this.
if it has ping pong looping per sample or this feature added it could be a killer machine.
Looks amazing for the price point, I remember being disappointed by the limitations of the Roland MS-1 when it was released, this would have blown my mind !
After watching some of the usual youtubers, this actually looks easier to use than my SP404mk2, which now I use as an iPad audio and midi interface, mixer and fx unit.
Looks great. Sample memory is a bit low. Pity there is no sd slot.
Looks like a fun unit.

Could? The Aira series was MADE for iOS/ipad … really cool.
+1
Looks v cool. I have two samplers already and don’t really need this at all but I have 3 Aira compacts and take them traveling sometimes so it would fit in one of my mobile setups perfectly
I just wish they would release an Aira compact mixer, kindof like the MX-1… because I really don’t wanna pay $1200+ for the TE mini mixer but it would be really nice to tie all my Aira’s together on the go without daisy chaining them.
Love the effects and that you can apply the effects to the external-in too
Perhaps take a look at this:

Geared more towards Volcas but will also power TE or SonicWare synths. No batteries though.
That looks sick, not a bad price either. Too bad about the batteries
Looks neat!
Watch out though, the 6 channels are MONO inputs, not stereo.
6 mono, 2 stereo. The stereo channels don’t have effects sends though which annoys me no end. Otherwise it’s pretty flawless for a tiny setup.
I’m not interested out of principle
My YouTube was filled with one after another of all the synthsplainers at once in a wall to wall barrage ordering me to pay attention and consequently buy one – I really hate this simultaneous brigade of propaganda and I won’t even consider any such product that appears on YouTube all at once everywhere – it should be managed more organically than that, and it’s clearly engineered to the benefit of the synthsplainers and manufacturers, and not at all to the public or potential customers
Yeah, the hype engine really is repulsive.
Looks kinda like a simpler Digitakt. Or “box of sad”, as we called it in this house.
This looks fun. The sampling time might be a little too short for my usual uses. I've got the little S1 synth and it is pretty amazing and sounds great so this P6 tempts me. But I'll wait I think. I just like samplers a lot. And Roland effects.
Damn, finally done with work and now theyre sold out it seems like? 😅
You can’t load samples from iPad/iphone - only from a computer. Yamaha did the same with the SeqTrak. 🙄
I mean it seems easy and fast enough to just play the sample direct into a pad? That’s what I do with my TE… and with this little guy, you don’t get a whole lot of project space anyways so who knows
not to sound negative but I’m just gonna throw this out there: if the Roland j6 ‘free computer application’ performs even remotely as poorly as their SP404 MKII app or their TR8S app (at least for me it is laggy and buggy and crashes)… well, if it’s anything by like those apps, it would be 100% faster and easier for me to just play/record the samples manually, ngl…
I really do appreciate their gesture with adding that feature and it’s a huge step in the right direction but I am not gonna hold my breath.
But … Maybe someday they will add the seamless koala support like they just did with the SP404 🙏
Lol “propaganda”? let’s not lose the plot. They are sponsored rundowns and most of them still have their honest fair criticisms anyways. What do you expect is going to happen on a free video streaming platform when a manufacturer releases a new product? sorry not trying to sound rude but this is how it is with literally every product that has a demand, in the history of marketing, ever. You’re gonna see a lotta promoted content.. it just be like that, bruv
But what do I know? Since the only thing I find offensively repulsive about this thing is that it’s YELLOW 🤢
WHYYYYY lol
Good points. It can't be managed more organically while still being fair to the "synthsplainers" btw. The reason is that doing it more organically would mean telling various youtubers, you go first, you do yours next week, you do yours next month, etc etc. This would rightly cause a ruckus. Who would want to get the shitty end of the stick by not getting to post early when interest and engagement will be highest. I hate the novelty fetish in these scenes but it is what it is and is unlikely to change, given human nature.
People tend to forget how little money youtubers in small niches generally make, and how much time is involved, week after week, year in year out. Sponsored vids are required for many to keep doing what they do. In that sense, Roland are doing the right thing by paying people instead of expecting them to do it for tiny YouTube ad revenue or yet another free piece of gear to add to the collection. Any serious reviewers barely have time to use what they have as they are so focused on reviewing new things, so after a certain point, getting free stuff is not any kind of meaningful 'payment'.
As @ambrosiajam rightly mentions, most or at least some, will still be reasonably objective. Avoid the influencers who seem like shills and focus on the ones you think have integrity. Simple.
I don't dislike any YouTubers, some folks I like to watch more than others I guess. But I like all the videos when something is released so I can listen to find out if an app or synth or sampler interests me. I prefer a video with sound to a written review, but those are good, too. It's all interesting to me.
I have one arriving tomorrow, now I’m considering getting the compact E4 voice tweaker to have a complete aira collection lol. The effects on that actually look pretty cool too though..
Creative limitations
But hey for a price of 199€ (Thomann) you get so much better (granular Synth) than EP 133 !!
Loving it
That's definitely true... not enough to drag me away from my iPad mini tho!
Hahaha, same. Just recently I got an OP1 which was on my wishlist since 5 years and... after playing with it for half an hour, came back to the iPad. Seems there is nothing that's beat the iPad.
Might take more than a half hour to learn the ins and outs of the OP-1
Mine came in this weekend, they were still in stock at Chicago Music Exchange. So far it is very capable, I haven’t made any new patterns with it yet but I spent a LOT of time messing around with the effects. It is a great effects unit for external sources! I got a little carried away with just using my guitar and pianos lol
Basically most of the same effects as the SP 404 and just as good. No amp sims tho lol
But it takes less to discover the limitations of tape recording
