Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Creating the Zvex lofi junky pedal in IOS

Do any of you guys remember this beautiful pedal/Eurorack module?
It was like a lofi chorus effect but it had a sound of its own. Very noisy and hard to tame but it made anything you put through sound like it was recorded onto a 70s reel to reel tape.
If you do remember it, please help me recreate it in IOS or maybe there is an app that possibly already gets close to it.

  • UA Needlepoint is my go-to for woozy lo-fi like this, also audiothing wires is great 😄

  • I still have mine.

  • Secta by k devices. I’ll link @Gavinski’s walkthrough/ tutorial:

  • Love these boxes! The Instant LoFi has been on my pedalboard since around 2009, and I’ve been using the Loop Junky since around 2007. It’s easy to find effects that roll off high end, introduce gentle white noise, and modulate pitch, but the real magic with these boxes is the strong compression IMO.

On iOS, I’m rather fond of Baby Audio SuperVHS. I also had fun with UA Needlepoint. Neither one nails that specific Zvex “thing,” but they definitely get you into the ballpark — especially if you run them into a slammed compressor.

Ahh I didn’t think of that. Cheers

Nice. I wish I still had mine. I’m not even sure why I sold it

    Sweet I’ll check this out.

Yeah the compressor was super hot on the Eurorack version as well.

Is it similar to the shallow water pedal? If so try this patch in Drambo:

I can’t remember if I beta tested needelpoint but lo-fi-af from UA had a lot of potential the little I tested.

    Edit:
Or perhaps Kai Aras artefacts that’s on sale now

Try numerous vinyl/tape emulators (the warbly part) + very strong compression after it (it produces hiss). Low pass filtering is also required in the tape emulation section or in a separate app. I still have Zvex in a box somewhere, such a wonderful sound.

Long ago I did this vid where DD-500 acts as a vinyl emulation part (so, any full wet delay with modulation), but then you still need strong compression, I switched Zvex as a compressor only later in video and it sounded closer to OG sound.

  • Haven't tried it, but I suspect the free Chow Tape Model will do what you want - pretty good guitar demo here.

Needlepoint does have several different interesting compressor algorithms

  • Today I’ll experiment with all these different ideas and see what I can come up with. Like I said before I’m not sure why I even sold it (the Eurorack version) but now I can’t even find it.
