Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Cubasis - why did you do this??!

Working on a track in Cubasis 3 - in one FRMS MIDI track I had added automation both within the app as well as FX sends etc. All was working well and then I quit Cubasis, and next time I opened the project, the ENTIRE FRMS MIDI track was gone! All MIDI, all plugins, vanished. I thought Logic on the iPad was bad, but this...this sucks big time.

It's the only Steinberg forum where Steinberg ( Lars ) actually responds. Might not be able to help but they will probably ask for your project file and take a look.

Who knows it might help track down a bug...

  • For what it's worth I had this type of issue when using AUs in Cubasis and I still have this issue on Logic.

I've had that many instances of lost work that I've had to develop a kind of battle plan...

Constant duplicates of project files as I'm working. After every significant change.

Always create presets on all AU synths and effects. Save every time you change a parameter. Name your synth/effect preset the same as your track to avoid confusion.

Convert to audio as soon as you are able. Even if you're not 100% finished changing stuff. At least you have the audio for the, almost inevitable, midi track crash/freeze etc.

Take a screen grab video of your track and marvel the very next time you open your project how some settings have changed for no reason!!

I even had an audio track change on Logic. I came back to it the following day to continue work and it was now completely out of time! And no, I hadn't stretched it/change pitch/alter sample rate /change tempo of the track or anything; it just decided to change itself! I didn't mention it on here because I didn't think anyone would believe me!
