Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

BeatMaker 3 bank maps / Samples from Mars?

I’ve been looking at the Samples from Mars folder on my computer for a while, meaning to generate BM3 maps for (at least) all the drum samples.

Before I embark, however, I just wondered if this work had already been done? KitMaker, while entirely fantastic for my Maschine packs, seems to choke on SFM kit folders, so I suspect this will have to be a manual job.

Unless I do the work in Zenbeats, so it’s transferable? Hmm.

  • I did something similar many years ago when I sampled my Addictive drum sets for Beatmaker use - I used Sample Robot on my desktop PC to do the work.
I did however have to set up the Beatmaker manually as I mapped for finger drumming layaouts with the pads.

  • Thanks - I’ll take a look at Sample Robot.

  • If your SFM folders contain instrument samples you may want to consider the Kitmaker companion program Presetmaker.

    "Preset Maker can:

Play audio previews for each keygroup instrument.

Scan musical note names in filenames as well as MIDI note numbers in filenames(Many Samples From Mars instruments use this naming.

Unlimited velocity levels(if using the naming convention V32, V64 etc. OR use 9 velocity levels using the format V1, V2 etc).

Organizes presetsAs mentioned Preset Maker duplicates the samples and organizes them into a new folder. For us, organization is very important and having all your instruments organized together was our goal. Most MPC users have hardware, so they can simply transfer the presets over to their MPC, then delete the presets from their desktop. (Or store them on an external drive if you do use desktop software)

Creates presets for MPC, Ableton, Beatmaker, Deluge and SFZ formats.

Group One-Shot sounds into presets. One unique feature of our app is that, on top of making instrument presets, it can scan the folders for “keywords” such as “Guitars”, “Synths”, “Chords” etc and create presets for different categories of one-shot sounds. So all your one shot Guitar sounds from a sample pack could be grouped together, making them easy to load and experiment with. This goes for Splice and other packs, as well as Maschine Expansions."

Yeah, I have Preset Maker, and will definitely give that a go for the instruments. Thanks for the pointer, though!

In related news, I can report that refreshing a BM3 database including all the KitMakered Komplete Maschine / Battery packs, together with all the SFM WAVs and loops, takes 5.5 hours and causes an M1 iPad Pro to smoke a bit.

Wow! Now that I think back, I remember doing that after I KitMakered all of my Maschine Expansions:) In a related note, I just remembered thinking how awesome it would be to have Koala support added to Kitmaker. I contacted the Kitmaker team last year. They were with it and even asked me to send a sample Koala file. i didn't hear anything back for a while but received a message that they had not been able to reach the developer:

Unfortunately I was never able to get ahold of the developer in my request that he add importable kits to his software :-/
