Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Import control profiles into Loopy Pro AUV3

edited June 22 in Loopy Pro

I see exporting/importing control profiles between Loopy Pro hosts on different devices is pretty straight forward but this doesn’t quite translate to Loopy Pro AUV3.

I thought that doing it in standalone would automagically make them appear in AUV3 but it isn’t so.

What’s the trick?…

If any

Cheers

Try this. In control settings in the AU, use the duplicate function for the global profile and tell it to copy the global profile as a Local/project profile. Save and export the project. On the other device, move the project into the Audio Unit Extension folder. Open it as an AU then reverse the process and duplicate the project project profile back to global profiles.

  • @espiegel123 i don’t see an Audio Unit Extension folder neither in iCloud nor on my iPad locations. I’ve tried search too. Any ideas why I don’t have one? Or am I looking in the wrong place?

You access it from Loopy Pro’s project browser.

  • Thanks @espiegel123
That’s a lot of steps for a relatively straight forward operation.

It sounds more complicated than it is. Moving the global profile into the project and back out after probably adds no more than about 15 seconds to the process.

Not in my case. However, thanks for the assistance as always.

If the part of duplicating the global profile into the project and back it is taking more than 15 or 30 seconds , there must be a misunderstanding if the steps.

Moving the project itself into the AU extension folder might be more steps.

Which part is taking so much time?

  • TBH I don’t want to be analysing the process and counting steps.
Since Michael has decided to include control profiles into Loopy Pro he should provide an easy way to move them around via iOS share and import protocols.

I think, as technology advances the user experience should be smoother and more foolproof. Hacks, workarounds will hopefully will slowly become a thing of the past. Perhaps AI will have some input in making UX a better place.

    Thanks again

  • I think moving the profiles isless complicated than you make it sound. Here is the process for moving the a global profile into a project and then back out:

Imo, the time required to make that part of the process more efficient might be better spent implementing other features, but that is just my opinion.

  • If you can complete this process in 15-30 secs you’re probably AI powered.

The video shows the complete process of moving the profile in and out of a Loopy AU instance. It is about 30 seconds long.

Maybe you are talking about the time to move the AU instance itself from one device to another?

  • Yes I’m talking about the whole process.

  • Moving AU instances between machines takes a few more steps than would be ideal, but that is mostly down to iOS hiding an AU’s home directory combined with Loopy Pro maintaining compatibility with some OS versions that don’t permit the workaround used by some AU to look outside their home folder.

Streamlining the process of moving AU instances would be nice. With time being finite , there may be higher priorities.
