    Hi Joseph, the forum feels complete again. I really liked the piano entrance at 2:00. I was listening to Pale Blue but stopped thinking this was a newer version. Have to get back to it now. Do you sing? This one calls for a grungy vocal. lol, you could try an AI app for it.

    I mostly do not like songs. There are very few exceptions, like some Radiohead or @richardyot.

    Lots of movement and dynamism in this one, the piano really covers a lot of ground and there are so many interesting phrases.

    I like the slightly dissonant passage towards the end, the harmony and the faster playing ramp up the intensity nicely.

    Of the two, I like this one the most. Especially the high staccato piano that comes in at around 2:08. Nice contrast to the other instruments. I’m probably in the minority around here, but I suggest avoiding AI. I don’t think you need it. If you must, how about using it to create a few dozen drum parts in various styles and saving them as audio files that you can tweak to use in other compositions. I have used Blocs Wave samples for that alone. I have hundreds of drum bits that I can change tempo without affecting pitch. I am not a drummer, so they come in handy from time to time. I have never knowingly used AI. I have also never been on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or any of those things. I’m just old school. No fool like an old fool. Glad you’re back and composing again.

    @richardyot yes, it is just a bit raw, I might slow down the temp juste a little bit to make that piano sound less fuzzy. I will wait for my ears to have forgotten it before working in the final version.

    @Paulieworld I use AI with the drummer because I don’t know how to write for drums, it is fast and practical, and it is all done on the fly; and of course I use the mastering AI which is better than I ever will be. Not sure about how much actual AI there is in those things though.
    Storing drums stems and loops wouldn’t work for me. It would be like working with loops, which is something that really doesn’t work for me.

    For what’s it worth I use the Logic Drummers in about 80% of my songs. I can program or finger drum my own drum parts but the Drummers are very good and most of the time very effective.

    There are times when I can’t get the vibe or feel I’m after from them, in which case I will create my own drums, but those are exceptions, not the rule.

    The Mastering Assistant I use on every track, it’s incredible.
