Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Papercut, Piano, and Paulieworld : Olivia's Song by Paulieworld : an SVD video

Since my 2 latest videos (Disconnected and Nightmare Carnival) were a bit darker in tone I wanted to do something a little more lighthearted. I remembered one of Paul's tracks from this post
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/51501/olivias-song and asked if I could use it for this video.
I hope you will enjoy watching and listening as much as I enjoyed putting this together. And thanks again @Paulieworld for sharing your music with me.

  • Hi Mac. Thank you for doing this. I really like this a lot. It's very uplifting, and really takes the music to a place I had never imagined before. I especially liked the scene at 2:12 where the dad is reading a story to the girl. Great work! Olivia will really like this. All my best to you and yours!

  • Thanks Paul,
Of all the videos I've made I enjoyed the process of making this one the most.
I'm happy to report that it got a few upvotes on the Stable Diffusion subreddit too. Those people are notoriously hard to please (especially with video) so I'll take that as high praise .
I do hope Olivia enjoys it, but if she feels like she's too grown up I'll understand. Seems like only yesterday I was carrying Anthony everywhere and now he's 23.
    Where does the time go?

  • I was about to write ‘uplifting’ when I read @Paulieworld ’s comment…
Perhaps I’ll try beautiful, inspiring, joyous ?

    Thanks GeoTony.
I loved Olivia’s Song when I heard it and when the idea hit me to try a paper cut style I thought it was the perfect fit. I appreciate you watching and listening.

  • The imagery is beautiful. Nice complement to the music.

    Thank you @richardyot
It helps to have great music to work with and I think Paul made a really special piece of music with this. I really enjoyed putting this one together.

  • BEAUTIFUL!

Being curious and looking for more of your great work @Paulieworld and @MadeofWax, I stumbled over this one
    https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/comment/1244333#Comment_1244333
    and enjoyed it a lot.

As I appreciate your music and visuals very much, would you mind to elaborate a little about how you work and what tools (Like your choice of DAWs, melody and chord tools and what's the deal with Stable Diffusion and probably more tricks behind it) you like to use?

    Thanks!

  • Really fantastic track @Paulieworld, and these visuals really suit it @MadeofWax

Sorry if this is a bit long winded but you did ask :D

From the video side, I generate images locally using an install of Stable Diffusion.

I have multiple models that have been vigorously trained on various concepts and use "Loras" (Low rank adaptations) to further refine the concept to what I specifically want for the video.

While I can render video locally using Stable Video Diffusion it takes about 2 hours to render 4 seconds so I have been using an online service to speed up the process. I upload the images I create locally and use the service to turn those images into video.

It's almost like using a randomizer because you don't have control over what might be animated. There is a "motion control" but it it is just a slider that controls the amount. There's a few other options and controls but for the most part it's the image you start from that has the most impact on the movement.

I tend to create about 10 to 12 images for each segment of video and try multiple iterations until I get a few different options.

I typically render at least 100 four second videos for a completed project. I cherry pick the best and edit them to try to match to the music and create something that visually compliments the music.

I wasn't sure if the paper cut style would animate at all. Stable Video Diffusion is so random.
    Appreciate you watching and listening

I love when Mac sends me an unexpected message telling me that he made a new video for one of my songs. His work is always spectacular and I love to show it to my friends and family. It really completes the thought and I am proud to be a part of it. Thank you from both of us!

I like to use Cubasis most of the time. I’ve started dabbling in StaffPad based on a few collaborations that I did with @Mcd. I have a lot to learn, but it’s fun. For ideas, I really like Piano Motifs. It almost always provides something good to start with. Occasionally, I need to use the MIDI editor to tweak a few things, but I enjoy the process. @GeoTony is also a big fan of PM. His work speaks for itself! Fugue Machine is another favorite. It’s a few years old, but so am I. I just used an oldie called Melodist in my most recent post. You give it an image and it generates a melody and accompaniment that you can build on. Thanks for listening!

    Thanks @MadeofWax & @Paulieworld, that's a lot of great info!
Stable Video Diffusion looks like a huge can of worms to open, great project though and I always love offline solutions. Curious if the ARM based Macbooks' GPU would bring any benefit here?

I had Fugue Maschine, Riffler and ChordPolyPad but just got Melodist and Piano Motifs, thanks for that!
I usually compose without them but they're good to have when getting stuck.

With Apple showing an interest in A.I. I would not be surprised to see some generative features in a future version of Final Cut much like Adobe’s Firefly features in Photoshop. There’s been huge progress in text to video generation although the most notable typically require a beast of a computer. Definitely excited to see what the future holds.

  • Just watched another YouTube video about generating videos using a service even more advanced than what I was using. It really is amazing how fast the technology is progressing.

  • Wow. I'm surprised how each new iteration of generative software manages to surprise me again and again 😉

This stuff is incredible. Did you happen to notice the little girl from Bundle Of Joy at 0:40? That was inspired by Olivia, my bundle of joy. I am really looking forward to an unexpected message from you one day saying… Hey Paul, I just did a new video for (pick a song).

It’s really hot here, but a slight breeze and a cold pop helps. Peace, bro.
