MIDI file export is working for me now:)

    Cheers for the quick fixes!

@MarioNieto Not for me! When I save a Midi Capture now, at least I can now see and save to the HarmonyBloom program folder located in OnMyiPad, (everything’s greyed out). But if I try to open the program folder, it opens as Empty. So even though I can sort of view my saved MIDI Captures while saving into the folder (see photo), I still can’t access them. And this is after the update and re-booting my iPad Pro.

Another odd thing is that the MIDI files I can view appear to have zero bytes.

In my iPad Settings, I had Harmony Bloom set to save documents & data in iCloud, not in
OnMyiPad, but this was the location the program insisted on saving into. What next??

There was a problem in version 1.2.6; all the midi files generated with 1.2.6 weren't being filled correctly, which is why they had a size of "Zero KB". Those files aren't valid. This issue was fixed in version 1.2.7. Starting from this new version, the files should be generated and you should be able to save them wherever you want on your iPad. Then, once the midi file is generated and saved to your chosen location, you should be able to access it from outside Harmony Bloom, like in the Files app on your iPad or from another app that allows loading midi files.

@MarioNieto I’m running 1.2.7, yet in OnMyiPad, I still cannot see the Harmony Bloom folder or access any Midi Captures inside it. (The greyed-out ones I could glimpse before this latest update all had zero KB’s.) I’ve rebooted my iPad Pro, etc., to no avail.

Also, I’m now having a problem viewing my iCloud Drive as well. I don’t know if it’s related to this Harmony Bloom bug or not; but everything worked fine until I installed Harmony Bloom, and now my Files App is acting crazy.

Am I the only one having this issue? At this point, maybe re-installing Harmony Bloom might work? Any suggestions would be helpful, because I really love Harmony Bloom, but this is frustrating.

@MarioNieto Hallelujah, re-installing Harmony Bloom worked! And everything’s working normally again.

(embarrassed I didn’t try this sooner, but I didn’t want to lose my presets and Midi Captures-oh, well!)

  • Ranks already among the classics. Amazing.

  • I concur

I’m enjoying Harmony Bloom (HB), but I’m getting quite frustrated trying to do something simple. I’ve scoured the manual many times and tried all kinds of combinations of settings but i can’t get consistent results.

What I want HB to do is use inputted MIDI notes, not a note set. So I activate the Use Input Notes function (3.1 in the manual screenshot). I also want HB in time with AUM, so I activate Link Play with Transport DAW (4.0 in manual screenshot) and Retrigger (4.4 in manual).

Now when I hit play, and start inputting notes, HB only uses the latest note played, not all the notes I’m inputting. I’m expecting HB to pick up all the inputted notes and use them in the sequence, as the manual suggests.

The only way I can get HB to use all the notes is by turning on Keyboard Mode, which is only supposed to set the root note, but Keyboard Mode is acting more like Use Input Notes is meant to (according to the manual).

Activating Keyboard Mode also deactivates DAW Sync, as Keyboard mode is now determining play/pause so the input notes have to be played exactly on the beat, otherwise they end up out of time.

So I can’t get it working as desired … I may be missing something, but maybe HB isn’t working as intended? Am I missing something?

Maybe @MarioNieto can shed some light on it. Once I get this working this is going to be a dream plugin!

PS. I’m on the 1.2.8. Beta, but this also happened in 1.2.7

In case anyone else is running into this, to let you know that Mario has helpfully responded to my support email to confirm that there is indeed an issue with note generation when Use Input Notes and Sync with DAW are both activated, and that the issue is being looked into.

This is probably a dumb question, but say I have the note collection as chromatic, scale as c# minor 7, and have 3 notes playing, why are two of the notes emitted the same? I feel like I'm missing something obvious as to why I don't get 3 different notes.

The scale notes are a final filter. When you use note collection "crhomatic" that means that the notes are generated with 1 semitone intervals, one semitone more for each new note from the center of the spiral to the ends, this is also limited and repeated between the N.MIN and N.MAX. When adding a particular scale, the notes generated by the selected note collection are moved to the nearest note within the scale. If for example we have selected a note collection in chromatic it will generate c, c#, d -> then we select a scale in C - Major, the notes will become c, d and d sometimes the notes are set to the next note and sometimes to the previous option.

  • Harmony Bloom 1.2.8 Update Available

    What’s New:

NEW: Advanced Quantization Settings: Control note spacing with quantized adjustments for F.Offset, E.Offset, and G.Offset, ensuring sequences align perfectly with your project grid.

NEW: individual 'Toggle Random Octave Mode' : controls for each bar in the sequencer: When activated, this mode enables each note triggered by the bar to be played in a randomly selected octave. This feature allows for intricate pitch variations and adds an element of unpredictability to each segment of your musical compositions.

NEW: Octave controls by trigger bar now feature the option to be included within the random octave trigger. For example, we can activate the 0 and 12 options in the octave controls, so whenever we have a random trigger, it will only select either 0 or 12, excluding the rest of the options.

FIXED: Improved precision in automation of large values. Previously, some values lost precision due to rounding during automation in a DAW. This fix enhances fine-tuning capabilities, ensuring maximum accuracy when adjusting parameters through automation.

@MarioNieto Thanks Mario. I'm not quite following as to why this is the preferred behavior. I'm not saying it shouldn't be, but I don't quite understand why the note on the next outer ring would look like it should be a higher note but end up being the same. The constraints I've set seem wide enough to easily allow 3 different notes, but maybe I'm missing something. How would I avoid this? Sorry for being dumb! (and thanks for the update!)

  • @MarioNieto Hi, I can’t seem to get this to synchronise in Logic Pro, the timing drifts. It works ok in Cubasis

You just need to reverse your thinking. Put the minor 7 in the note collection, root to c# like you have, and set the scale to chromatic.

The root determines the key, or starting note.
The note collection determines the interval structure of the spiral.
The scale will alter those spiral notes to conform to the scale you choose. Setting it to chromatic will not change any spiral notes.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, it does and it's where I'd ended up after playing around with it last night. My music theory is somewhat lacking, so I'm a little confused as to how to utilize the two different note selections if they are doing similar things.

It would be cool if there was also a rotation setting for trigger outputs as well, or a way to automate turning them on or off through modulation or another parameter.

    Yes! I agree with this.

Or maybe a way to change "probability per trigger bar"?
I watched Doug's vid last night where he was demonstrating how to assign each trigger bar to 8 different synths, and it sounded wonderful. As I was watching it though, I thought 'wouldn't it be cool to change the probability on each trigger bar, or switch them on/off with an LFO' - which I guess is something like you've suggested @auxmux

Think this might be feasible @MarioNieto ?

Anyone know how to activate the new expansion pack? It is included in the latest desktop update, and coming soon with 60 new presets to iOS.
I have updated to latest version on my Macbook, but no new presets appear (?)
    Any ideas?

It should appear in your account, in the download section, but in case it doesn’t, you can download it directly from this link:

    Harmony Bloom Expansion Pack V1

Sorry - posted before I saw you'd sorted it...!

Thanks @enkaytee ! Appreciate you trying to help anyway.

I downloaded it...just couldn't figure how to add the presets into the app. Figured it out by opening HB in standalone, as opposed to within Ableton, and just dragged and dropped.
Can't wait to try out these new patterns!

  • How can I import the presets into iOS?
Drag n drop works neither with the folder nor with individual presets

Thanks for the info, you're probably right.
Hopefully the new iOS version will also be able to import presets.

Isn't the iOS/Mac M1 version of HB supposed to show up as an auv3 in DAWs like Live?

Hell I'll just get the VST3 version too it's not like it isn't worth it :p

Different channels per Trigger Bar really take a lot of trouble out of messing with organizing 'orchestration' from Midi. Hugely useful. Even the Three Legs preset is a great example, given it's simplicity. Love it.
    Thanks!

Yeah it's just a fantastic app innit? Different channels per trigger bar is wonderful f'sure. I've asked @MarioNieto if he would be able to add a "probability per trigger bar" feature, (as opposed to just a global probability) - I feel like that would add so much variation. Fingers crossed...

  • Apologies if this has been discussed or it’s obvious- is there a way to trigger a change in key via note/keyboard?

Only just started playing with HB but I’m loving it.

  • Hi!
I was very excited to try this app. but sadly it immediately crashes into the background upon launch on my offline only 2017 gen 2 ipad pro 12.9 running ios 13.4.1. Any chance of an update that might prevent this? Thanks very much!

have you definitely got the latest version? Tried turning ipad off and on again?

  • Well i finally got this app last night! I thought i didn’t need any more sequencing apps but i was wrong… i for sure needed this one!
Such a great sequencer and is absolutely fun to play around with and watch it churn out some crazy notes.
Great work on this one and everyone on YouTube who has shown tips n tricks.. Much thanks

Nothing mind blowing here but it sure is fun to send an LFO to HB to get some unpredictability . I’m going to work on this for the rest of the day now

Messing with loop length to get different speeds, F and E offsets
