Indeed.... I made a mistake on my end and that's why Harmony bloom isn't showing up as AUv3. I've fixed it and I'm uploading the new version right now.

Please wait a bit, I don't think it will take more than 24h-48h hours to be available.

    Sorry :cold_sweat:

Hmm, weird; I updated, then opened AUM, opened a midi channel...Harmony Bloom nowhere to be seen. Shut down ipad and restarted, same thing....It's vanished.
I opened HB standalone too, before opening AUM
    Any thoughts @MarioNieto ?

Same thing just happened to me the AU is not showing anymore. And to hard reset the modern iPads with the button combo is a pain in the arse to do I found if don’t get the 3 button push just right it just restarts, hope you can fix it @MarioNieto

@MarioNieto has already posted 3 times that the update has an error on his part and he has uploaded a replacement update. Just look 2 posts before yours. He says it should update in the store in 24-48hrs

Harmony Bloom 1.2.6 is now available in the app store :)

    Loving the app! :)

I'm interested to know if you were inspired to any extent by the old NI Reaktor Ensemble called Spiral?

  • New version is up and working! Thanks!

@MarioNieto Updated to fixed version and working well. :) - I’m curious… what is a use case example of why I’d send midi into HB, that I would want to use the new bypass button for?

I’ve tried sending Neon sequencing into HB, then engaging the bypass button to let Neon drive synths, but I can more or less already do this by simply activating/deactivating each sequencer instance. What is the advantage of running the midi through HB instead, and using its new bypass button? Just more convenient?

  • @Jökulgil said:
Changing the root note of the sequence and retriggering the sequence.

Edit: Plus any cc’s controlling any parameter

You could do that before the updated bypass button though. Why would you also need to bypass to do that?

  • @Jökulgil said:
An easy way to stop any external influence and just hear what HB is doing perhaps

I have no doubt there’s a very good reason for the bypass switch/button, or he wouldn’t have added it. I’m just thinking of ways to use it. Having another sequencer like Neon running into HB that I can bypass HB and let it straight through is cool… but I have to think the intended purpose for adding it is something else more useful.

I know you have been watching his live videos… did he mention what it’s for, or use the new bypass in his most recent videos?

  • Ok! Problem solved—the new version 1.2.7 - HB should now be visible in your DAWs! So if you haven’t done it yet, go ahead and update. B)

About the Bypass, this is a feature I originally implemented in the Desktop version because I had several requests to add it. It’s true that in most DAWs, turning off the instrument effectively does the Bypass, but sometimes that button isn't so accessible at first glance. For example (in the case of Desktop) in Ableton, if you have the Harmony Bloom window open and another channel selected, you won’t be able to turn off HB unless you go directly to the track where it’s loaded and click the off button.

More reasons: Harmony Bloom accepts input notes to then use them to create sequences, sometimes it's just more convenient to put Harmony Bloom and listen to the raw chords to start getting an idea of which notes will later be used in the arpeggio.

The Desktop version and the IpadOS version are the same application (with only one exception, which is due to a technical limitation (Midi DragDrop is not possible in the IpadOS version (Well, technically it is... but it's a mess))), so I understand that if a feature is useful on desktop and I have requests for it, there will also be iPad users who will find it useful to have it.

  • @MarioNieto I am loving the new update with the individual midi channel output!

I didn't test new update but yesterday lost for hours just playing with number of notes, note length and XY filter in Additive Pro. Highly recommend!

  • MIDI file export is working for me now:)

    Cheers for the quick fixes!

  • That’s all mostly what I figured 🙏 but, I didn’t know you can use input notes to create sequences. Can you elaborate on how this is done? Sounds cool 😎

Just press the little button next to the preset-list that says Marionotes, when you open the plugin, and press the little keyboard-icon at the bottom of the screen. Then send chords to Harmony bloom.

If I see it correctly, it will only use those notes and not the same notes in other octaves, no matter how many notes are in the circle, it would be nice to have an option to change that @MarioNieto

When using input notes, the incoming notes will be used in the sequence. For example, if we input 3 midi notes C3 - D3 - E3, the first note of the spiral (the one that is closest to the center) will become a C3, the second (starting from the center) will be a D3, and the third will be an E3. After that, this pattern will repeat for the subsequent notes that we have in the spiral.

You can check point 3.1 in the manual to see how to activate this funciton:

What’s the difference between pressing keyboard and sending notes in vs the input button at the top left of the screen?

The difference is that when the 'use input notes' isn't active (the icon at the top left), the only thing the incoming note will do is transpose the notes collection and reset the sequence to 0 if retrigger and keyboard mode are active.

And just in case, let me clarify what the function of the note collections:

The Note Collections are the intervals used in the spiral. Each point on the spiral represents a distance in semitones relative to the previous one. These distances are predefined by the note collection we have selected, or by the incoming notes if "use input notes" is active. So, when using the note collections, the sequence will start at N.MIN (Min note) and from there, the intervals from the note collection will be added sequentially.

You can check points 3.1and 3.2 in the manual:

    https://marionietoworld.com/index.php/support/

  • Ah! I was wondering what that little arrow icon was for. Cool 😎 and thanks! 🙏

@MarioNieto Not for me! When I save a Midi Capture now, at least I can now see and save to the HarmonyBloom program folder located in OnMyiPad, (everything’s greyed out). But if I try to open the program folder, it opens as Empty. So even though I can sort of view my saved MIDI Captures while saving into the folder (see photo), I still can’t access them. And this is after the update and re-booting my iPad Pro.

Another odd thing is that the MIDI files I can view appear to have zero bytes.

In my iPad Settings, I had Harmony Bloom set to save documents & data in iCloud, not in
OnMyiPad, but this was the location the program insisted on saving into. What next??

There was a problem in version 1.2.6; all the midi files generated with 1.2.6 weren't being filled correctly, which is why they had a size of "Zero KB". Those files aren't valid. This issue was fixed in version 1.2.7. Starting from this new version, the files should be generated and you should be able to save them wherever you want on your iPad. Then, once the midi file is generated and saved to your chosen location, you should be able to access it from outside Harmony Bloom, like in the Files app on your iPad or from another app that allows loading midi files.

@MarioNieto The new MIDI output settings for each trigger bar are excellent thanks!

My main wish is that those settings could be saved with the preset, as I quickly found that I don’t necessarily want the same MIDI output configuration for all presets.

Is this something that you might consider for an update or for v2?

Hey, yeah, I think it would be interesting to make the parameters that control the channels and octave of the trigger bars work like the rest of the parameters, meaning, they should be saved with the preset but have the option to ignore preset changes.

By the way, I'm taking this chance to mention that today I'll be doing a live stream with the new development version 1.2.8, where I'm testing a new "QUANTIZE" function to have quantized control of the offsets. Link here:

This looks excellent … I’ve been playing around with parameter combinations trying to find ways of quantising the output with varying degrees of success.

  • It would be cool if there was also a rotation setting for trigger outputs as well, or a way to automate turning them on or off through modulation or another parameter.

  • Loving Harmony Bloom. What a beautiful thing to look at and listen to. 💕

I heard there was talk about a potential universal version for iPhone. Any thoughts on that @MarioNieto ?

It looks like the interface scales small enough but the text might be too small. Perhaps an option to upscale the text, or just upscale the text permanently. The preset, scale, and note collections windows would need adjusting if there was larger text.
The notes circle still works but is obviously a little harder to press accurately. Using the hide interface button helps a lot though because it makes the circle as big as it can be.

Hey, yeah, I want to make an iPhone version, although I haven't done any testing yet. I'm currently working on the new version 1.2.8, and my process is to first work on the desktop version and then move on to the (IPad)OS version, trying to publish the update as synchronously as possible. So, as soon as I start on the iOS version, I'll do a first build for iPhone. If I see that it doesn't cause many issues or any other problems that could delay the release, I'll publish everything together—the update and the iPhone version. Otherwise, I'll delay the iPhone version.

By the way, if you want to see the progress on the new version 1.2.8, I'll be live streaming in an hour.

  • Sorry if this has already been asked, but is there a way to continue playback from where playback stops, rather than revert back to the start of the sequence? I want to capture little flurries of notes, but when I use the play/pause button in HB, the current sequence always goes back to the start... @MarioNieto

  • Don’t worry @MarioNieto - I’ve figured it out!

@MarioNieto I’m running 1.2.7, yet in OnMyiPad, I still cannot see the Harmony Bloom folder or access any Midi Captures inside it. (The greyed-out ones I could glimpse before this latest update all had zero KB’s.) I’ve rebooted my iPad Pro, etc., to no avail.

Also, I’m now having a problem viewing my iCloud Drive as well. I don’t know if it’s related to this Harmony Bloom bug or not; but everything worked fine until I installed Harmony Bloom, and now my Files App is acting crazy.

Am I the only one having this issue? At this point, maybe re-installing Harmony Bloom might work? Any suggestions would be helpful, because I really love Harmony Bloom, but this is frustrating.
