Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
Hydrasynth Explorer or iPad with Drambo to complement Liven 8bit Warps (plus multitrack recorder)?
I've had my Liven since I got it for Christmas, and it's a very fun synth. However, I think it should have another battery-powered synth friend. If I just want another portable synth, my iPad with a Roland UM-One Mk II should be enough. However, I think it would be fun to have another synth that is very tactile and doesn't require looking at the screen. I can use the Hydrasynth to control the Liven and my desktop plugins, and I can sequence the Hydra with the Liven.
I am also thinking of getting a multitrack recorder like a Zoom R4 next month (which I heard good things about). It's annoying that I have to use a powered USB bank in order to use my MOTU M4 with my iPad Air 3.

as much as i like iPad, combining HW wirh iPad/SW doesn’t work for me.. Whem i want to work with HW, i need full HW enviroment..
Also synths lile Hydrasynth or Arturia Minifreak have no competition in terms of sound quality on iOS .. those are really different level than any iOS app …
Thanks for your answer. And tbh, the Hydrasynth can also make an excellent VST controller. Its interface with those shortcut buttons is faster than a touchscreen. I still think Zeeon, AddStation, Flowtones, and VAPoly are some of the best-sounding iOS synths ever.
Several places appear to have the Hydrasynth Explorer on discount for $499 right now. Good time to buy;)
Yeah, that's why I asked this morning lol. The Hydrasynth Explorer is one of the few synths where it's sometimes better to get it new than used.
They are good, not arguing about that. My personal top iOS synth is Butter Synth, really amazing powerfull synth.
But, come on. Hydrasynth is just completely different level :-) Imho absolutely best modern synth in existence. Absolutely off the all charts.
My only gripe with the Hydras sound engines is that the sync mutant produces aliasing. Other than that, it sounds decent if you know what you are doing.
