Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

K-Mix with Logic Pro for iPad

Hi there,

I need a bit of help with connecting the Keith McMillen K-Mix to an iPad and using it in Logic Pro for iPad.

I got so far that I see the K-Mix in the Logic Pro Audio settings and I set up the mixer as input and output for Logic. I can then set up the input on a Logic Pro track, and I can see the green bars that represent the audio amplitude move up when I play the synth connected to the K-Mix.

On the headphones connected to the K-Mix I can hear the synth directly routed through the Mixer, but not the sound that goes through Logic. I have the output of the Logic Pro track routed to the K-Mix output but I have a feeling that the K-Mix does not route the audio from the iPad to its own headphone output.

Has anyone managed to use K-Mix as an input and output with Logic Pro for iPad?

I'd be grateful for any help...

  • Have You tried increasing the volume on the iPad?
(Some interfaces use software to control their output volume thus the iPad volume controls affect the devices output level).

    Couple things.

First is to check and make sure you are on the headphone mix setting and not the main mix setting. They are different. On the headphone mix setting, you want everything turned down/muted except for the main mix.

So on the headphone mix view only the main slider should be lit.

Logic sliders will control the volumes of the each input, and the k-mix hardware sliders shouldn’t really be used (except to setup the gains into logic from the gains mix page). So even on the main mix page you don’t want the individual levels up, as that will compete with the computer USB output.

On the gain settings you can set the input gain of the external sources into logic.
So on the main mix, you really only wan the main slider lit.

Lastly you want to make sure your headphone output is mirroring you main output. That should be the default but you can decouple them for cueing and such.

  • Thank you very much for the quick answers!

I'm ashamed but at the same time happy to report that it was the volume setting on the iPad. It seems to be working now

    Thanks a lot again!
