Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.
Nave wavetables in Serum
Anyone know an easy way to export Nave factory wavetables? I seem to be able to do so one at a time, but no other way. I'd like to try them in the new Serum VST....

There is a post on the xferrecords/serum forum which you have only access to if you purchase serum.
Here it is:
First off, you want to use really low notes on the synth you're ripping (C-1 through C0), as these have the most detail. Serum's manual says to rip waveforms at 2048 samples, which is F-1 -22 cents, so so tune the synth's oscillator to -22 cents and record a note at F-1. Make sure the amp envelope's attack is as fast as possible, and make sure phase reset is on so you get a complete cycle every 2048 samples. It's not easy to record just a single cycle unless your DAW can time notes in samples (Ableton can't), so just record half a second or so. Then bounce it as audio (WAV). Complete this process for every waveform you want to rip. From here there's an easy way and a slightly harder way to actually get the waveforms into Serum (easy way is good if you're only importing one waveform)
The easy way would be to go into Serum's wavetable editor, type 2048 in the formula bar, and just drag and drop your wave sample into place. This will split your file into segments of 2048 samples, so you should end up with multiple copies of the waveform in your wavetable list (http://puu.sh/bNkNX/94b4599324.png). Just delete all but one of them and you should end up with a single waveform. Something important to note here is that there's typically a very small fade-in on the first waveform even though the attack was set to 0, which can make the waveform sound different if the fade is long enough. To fix this, just don't use the first waveform in the list. You should now have a wavetable containing a single ripped waveform (like the Z3ta+ multisaw I uploaded).
The problem with the easy method is that if you try to repeat the process for another waveform within the same wavetable, it will delete all the work you've done on the first one. Even worse, if you try to drag a file to the wavetable list, Serum will treat the entire file as a single-cycle waveform, meaning it'll look something like this http://puu.sh/bNlDE/581cf60d98.png. In order to fix this, you need to extract single cycles with an external editor. Your DAW should work if it can edit by samples, but since mine can't, I used Audacity. Since there's a wave cycle every 2048 samples, you'll want to select 2048 samples of audio content. As mentioned before though, the first wave cycle is slightly affected by envelope fading, so start at sample 2048 and select to 4096. You can do this in audacity just by typing values into the bar at the bottom (http://puu.sh/bNm73/757ee0e38e.png). Delete everything but your selection and save it as a new WAV. Then repeat the same process for every waveform you want to rip. When you're done, drag all of the resulting WAV files into Serum's wavetable list, and it'll import them as single-cycle waveforms. You should now have a wavetable containing multiple ripped waveforms (like the Sylenth waveforms I uploaded).
The process is a bit work intensive, but that's the best way I've found to get perfect rips of waveforms from other synths.
Thanks for this, mostly in the manual already. Does not answer my question about exporting ...
Woah... thank's for this thread. I tested the demo and this sounds so f.... great. I think i have to buy it for this intro price! I was sad when i heard that there is no Nave VST after Rolf Wöhrmann says there is something planned..... but this is far far behind this and this is one of the few synth which stands out of the crowd now. Brilliant piece (for me).
Lotta buzz about Serum lately- going to try the demo later.
Hadn't heard the Nave VST was cancelled...
I saw a post in the Waldorf forum a while ago that there is no VST planned. Mmhhhh.... Nave is also still unstable and a low ram crasher and there is no more evolution. Serum is a hell of a beast and a sound designers dream. I just bought Dune2 VST (one of the best sounding synths i heard) and now comes this...... going to be an expensive hobby But i saved 999€ this year because i tested the iPhone 6 plus.... failed to impress me.
When did they can the VST version of Nave? Rolf was showing some blurred pics of the VST/AU version on Twitter a couple of weeks ago, and something about how awesome it was going to be.
O.k. the post was over 3 months old. Someone asked in the german forum when and if they plan a VST/AU. An administrator answered that there is no VST/AU planned. Maybe they changed it again.....not sure. I really like Rolf's works in iOS and i see him often in a german you tube channel as guest and he says month ago that there will be a VST/AU but sadly the last i heard about it was this post in the Waldorf forum. However, when they want to beat "Serum" they must put a lot more into the VST version then into the iOS. Time will tell.....
Edit: I found a post from Rolf about Nave VSt in June..... Strange that Waldorf and Rolf say different things. If i could control the VST with the iPad.....that would be awesome!
@cinebient Yea I dunno. But this tweet and pic was posted on the 18th this month (it's the VST/AU version):
@ChrisG: Thank's Is there a software where i can put the blurry fx away Will have an eye for this one for sure. For me Nave doesn't work good on my iPad Air and crash all the time but without So much RAM and CPU limit it could be a great tool again. It's the best sounding synth on iOS for me in terms of sound quality etc. but i give up creating patches after low ram crashes every few minutes.
That's odd, never had problems with Nave on ipad2.
