Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

I’m sure it’ll be a fun box to play with. I really like having something like this as a diversion from screens and other distractions. I think I’ll stick to the Circuit for that job personally. Whilst it looks like it will be a pretty comprehensive and fun Groovebox I’m not a massive fan of Yamaha sounds.

I had an FB-01 sound module as one of my first ever synths. Not sure I found a single sound in it at the time that I liked. I should see if it’s still in my loft. Might be worth sampling today for laughs — it has that bass sound that was on everything in the late 80s.

WodBass is the best sound on that. I have one too. It's a lofi gem.

  • Cautionary tale: this looked right up my street, so I bought it. By the time it arrived, I'd seen a couple of comments on elektronauts about non-functioning keys. Sure enough, I had a key that worked one time out of every five or six. Returned it. Really disappointed with the build quality. When they decided to take on the OP-Z, I didn't think Yamaha would go that far.

Yes, mine has non functioning keys too. Returning it for sure.

  • Was it the OP-Z that had the non-functional keys, or the SeqTrak? Or both?

In the case of the OP-Z, I've heard about its build quality. If it's the SeqTrak, shame on Yamaha for releasing a product with faulty keys. You could even say that's "childish engineering". 😏

    Unfortunately, it was the Yamaha.

Wait it’s out already? Perhaps maybe exchange it instead? I’m sure a showstopper like that will get fixed asap.

Aw geez. Glad I didn't jump the gun on that purchase. I was planning to maybe get it early February. Think I'll stick with my OP-1 Field when it comes to the hardware gadgets.
