Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Pure Acid is the best 303 emulation I’ve heard yet!

I have tried Troublemaker, d16 phoscyon 2, Audio Realism, Behringer, Roland, many and I have to say Pure Acid is just that.. pure 303. is Poison
As good? Hands down to the developer.
I can say this is like Rebirth 2023!

  • Agreed and yes Poison is 100% worth the money. One of my favorite iOS synths.

2XB303 from Rob Wilmot is great too if you haven’t tried it. Maybe the second best on iOS.

  • I would love it if there was a sampler and an extra 303 with mixer, kinda like a modern day Reason Rebirth for iPad. It’s simply an awesome app.

A sampler on a 3rd track would be awesome.

Yeah , a simple sampler player with sequencer and with a lo- fi Akai s950 / SP1200 emulation switch. Maybe an audio Loop recycler.

    My wallet is ready !

I also love the way they made the sequencer on it. So easy and fun,

  • I have ignored this app for a long time, but it is absolutely great. It don’t have to be acid, you can be way more creative with it, and the drummachine is worth the money alone for me.

Yeah, also the sequencer has even
Midi out. Drum machine sounds sweet too. Im amazed how the internal settings ( boost /color/ distortion ) can produce realistic analog board saturation.

Iťs much better tan Rebirrh .. as a huge fan of 303 sound i was quite dissapointed by peopellerheads emulation, wan’t not that good at all.

Pure Acid is amazing. Very very close to real thing.

Not sure if you know but a SP1200 emulation is coming to iOS, hopefully soon. The devs are working on it as we speak though. I’m more excited for that than any other app I can think of.

Yeah it’s honestly close enough that I feel no desire for hardware 303. Plus it’s fun to use.

Agreed on the Rob Wilmot version. It’s a bit idiosynchratic at first, but really fun and capable. Sounds great, too.

And Pure Acid is, as everyone says, breathtaking.

  • If it's (SP12000 emu) is done well, it will be huge! Maybe Koala?

I remember the Kenton Control Freak and Phatboy. That was fun..Yeah, Rebirth was the 303 emulation king back in the '90s
with no competition, but now it probably would sound like sh_t.

Yeha all of his apps are a bit gaudy and kitschy but I love the apps themselves. Once you learn the UI, they’re all pretty powerful.

I love these grungy toys. I actually hate super clean synths. The dirtier, grungier, the better :)
Or mixing them together ,like salt and pepper.

  • People may “discuss” (argue 🤣) over what sounds most authentically like a real 303… but without even going there, I think Pure Acid is the most usable. I’ve certainly spent 100s of hours jamming with that app entirely for my own amsement.

  • Phoscyon 2 sounds fantastic though. If that came to iOS I would buy it immediately.

  • It sounds good enough that I sold my TD-3 and never looked back. I did recently get Arturia Acid V on desktop, and that’s a very, very good instrument. Same immediacy as Pure Acid and the sequencer has some fun tricks up its sleeve, plus very powerful effects and modulation. But until that comes to iPad (probably never, let’s be real) I get more actual use out of PA.

wouldn't say it sounds like shit - in some areas it was not that bad .. it had completely wrong implementation of accent, accented notes were very different from original - but yah, maybe that was someting obvious mostly just for 303 fanatics like me lol .. anyway, they were first, kudos for that, in that era it was groundbreaking app, absolutely zero doubt about that

I think Propellerheads has made some amazing music software. If not, some of the best. I still love Reason. Thor is simply amazing as well. A classic in its own right. Rebirth as well!

Yeah, i used Reason from version 1 to probably 4 and made a lot of music with it. That was revolutionary software. Not much apps deserve this tag, but Reason definitely does. It was absolute revolution.

  • The first ReBirth I bought was on a cd-r, it came in a silver printed cardboard cd sleeve and besides the 303s it only had the 808, the 909 was not added yet. Later on you had all these skins/hacks you could d/l.

Those are probably worth a lot these days.. I wonder what it can run on though. For some an older Mac running rebirth is a studio itself. I actually really like the original and simple Reason 1-4 the best.

I had it on my Apple PowerMac 9500 which was running on something like.. system 7.5 or so?

i remember Rebirth on Pentium 166, and regardless of nostalgia (not really) i can say that it did not sound good.
so i absolutely don't get why each and every 303 emulation in software is always compared to Rebirth.
(and if i was a developer, i absolutely would not like that.)

comparing 303 emulations to Rebirth is something even worse than playing Smells Like Teen Spirit / Smoke On The Water / Enter Sandman in guitar shop.
