Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Download on the App Store

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

What is your Black Friday haul? Why did you choose these apps?

I picked up Electric Vintage, Sparkle, and Brainz (Tera Pro IAP)Was hoping Buttersynth would’ve gone on sale but I’ll pick it up full price soon as I can afford to…after that and Stria I’m done buying apps for a long time at least until new ones launch 😎

Was gonna ask you how you’re liking them so far? You’ve been looking forward to it for a while so I’m hoping you’re enjoying them!

EV is phenomenal and Brainz too… Sparkle is pretty cool in standalone but as an AU in GarageBand not so much . I think it’s one of those that would be better in something like AUM

Probably right about Sparkle. Not sure how hard it is to route a source to a target in GB but it’s fairly simple in AUM.

Their Accordion app and iVCS3 are my personal favorites from them but EV is a close third. It sounds excellent.

That accordion is so fun. You may think you don't need an accordion app, but hear me out....!

Haha that’s exactly how I describe it. I wasn’t expecting much when I bought it on sale a couple years ago and now it’s one of my most used apps. It takes you by surprise for sure.

Haha I understand that feeling well. It’s definitely not really an app you “need” (though I feel like I do by this point lol) but it’s really fantastic and a truly unique app which is hard to make these days. Buttersynth is just a mammoth of an app and for sure deserves its place on your phone.

  • BF falls during birthday season in this house. If I didn’t have to pay for 2 Nintendo Switch special edition OLEDs plus 2 Switch games this month then I’d of probably hauled a few more apps. No BF discounts on the Switch’s unfortunately. I now have a setup I’m very happy with as far as iOS is concerned and am saving for a Push 3. New apps like the BLEASS arp get a pass though, looks MEGA.

Yeah I remember when it launched and I was “feeling some kind of way” (as the kids say) that it was iPad only… it became universal during my months offline … I literally just need ONE sale and I’ll be able to get it. Luckily the album we’re about to release is some of the best music we’ve done yet …this is the first project where I played every note myself and we collaborated via email/messenger for the songwriting so I’m really excited to see how it goes over!

i intended to resist,,, didn't work

what: Pro-R 2 why, tried it on desktop, already love it, have the pro bundle so this is completeness, love the new features

what: Pianoteq Vibes, why, it was overdue. always love a good vibraphone, just great to add

what: Bleass Arpeggiator, why,,,, GAS? I rarely use any arps, I have used occasionally, like once every twenty years when I hear a record such as https://2000black.bandcamp.com/track/got-me-puzzled
and think mmmmm I like that arp, i should do that,
hopefully i'll spend enough time with it, actually considering other arps as well now :(

what: Sugar Bytes Effectrix, why, again a staple on desktop, as its older i just hadnt bothered to get it for mobile previously, but playing it as midi keys (much like Stutter Edit and Artillery, but seems like Artillery has disappeared) is a really accessible and useful way to perform one finger multi fx mangling so this was also overdue. i already have turnado but this is a useful addition

what: Djay Pro subscription, why, so much fun!!! i've dj'd for decades., I'm surprised to find that DJay Pro unlocked on a touchscreen is more fun than a booth full of Pioneer gear.

not on sale, but, GG Spin Rotary - make everything in to an organ, I've needed this for a while on iOS.

to be fair, other than the bleass, all of these have been high on the to-get-next list (obviously not pro-R2) for many months, and they'll get "real world" outings pretty much straight away

How are you liking the Rotary effect? I have Spinn and the Eventide one but neither are exactly trying to emulate a Leslie and sound a bit different. I’d like to have a rotary effect eventually.

Yeah you're right, I don't have spinn but the Eventide is not it when I want to apply a nostalgic "Leslification", but this certainly is, I would say the 122 and 147 cabinet settings and set to fast, is exactly what I want. Set it and done. And ride the mix blend. Put it on a synthetic organ patch and you have a way better organ patch, put it on a rhodes or wurli or guitar and its as you'd expect. Put it on anything else :) There's deeper controls of everything, speeds, acceleration, deceleration, mic position, other types of cabinet, and tubes, but I haven't got in to any of that yet.

  • Thought I’d been restrained this year, but in fact, no…

    So, BF apps:

    • Combustor
    • Textquencer
    • Bouncebud
    • Brainbud
    • ApeDelay
    • GliderVerb
    • DubFilter
    • LumaFusion Multicam IAP (thanks to whoever it was further up the thread that mentioned this!)

    Intro deals:

    • Things Voice
    • Bleass Arpeggiator

All of which is mightily down on the last two years.

And then: iPad Pro 11”, which is the hardware purchase. So much for restraint…

To be fair to myself, I’ve been dithering about a new iPad for about a year (upgrading from a 2018 base model 6th gen). Yeah, I know: excuses, excuses!

Would love to see GSI allow their VB3 app to slid into an fx slot to use the fantastic rotary emulations. I don’t see that happening since they sale a standalone app for $20 😂

Celemony Melodyne Assistant, $99 was a good price and I have always wanted a legal copy of it 😂 I used a cracked version years ago and was amazed at how well I could mangle audio with it, changing speed without affecting the pitch, stretching stuff as I see fit. It’s an essential tool for remixers. I also like it can convert audio to MIDI very well, that’s like a bonus. Melodyne is a cheat code.

I think they do don't they? I've used on desktop. They're very very close the GG and the GSI, if anything I think the GG might be even better, but, I have not tested this, its just a gut feeling.

    Yeah, here it is https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/gsirotary/id1644548509

Would love to see GSI allow their VB3 app to slid into an fx slot to use the fantastic rotary emulations. I don’t see that happening since they sale a standalone app for $20 😂

I think they do don't they? I've used on desktop. They're very very close the GG and the GSI, if anything I think the GG might be even better, but, I have not tested this, its just a gut feeling.

    Yeah, here it is https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/gsirotary/id1644548509

Oh sorry, I misunderstood!! Right, for the organ to be able to be an effect, yes, sorry!

No need to apologize! The app itself seems great. Sad I missed it during the Black Friday sale but the GG app is decently priced enough. How are you liking it so far? Work the $13? There aren’t many demos of it for some reason. I was initially deciding between Blue and VB3 for a modeled tonewheel and went with GSI over the strength of their other 2 organ apps, but the their rotary is cheaper and seems to great.
