Audiobus: Use your music apps together.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

It’s a lovely synth, remarkably deep.
I’m really GASing for this one myself. Would be great paired with the Bastl and Korg stuff (Volca Modular).
I have wanted to buy a Matriarch for a long time, but I know it's way beyond my capabilities. I thought if I could learn to do something meaningful with the MAVIS, maybe I would give myself permission to get a Matriarch! For now I am thinking maybe to add a Behringer Neutron.
The neutron is great too! The only thing I didn’t like was you had to set up a patch to have a clean signal. Otherwise the BBD is always kinda there. It would be a cool pair with the Mavis though.
If I had unlimited funds and space I would definitely buy a Matriarch. Or a Moog One…
I’ve never used a Neutron, but I have a friend who’s done some lovely work with one.
While we’re talking pairings, Moog were very clever with the Mavis. It’s a lovely thing in it’s own right, but as well as being an entry point into their range it’s an excellent addition to any of their range of semimodulars because of what’s included (eg the S&H, wavefolder, ADSR envelope, extra oscillator and LFO, extra mult and mixer). It’s not an accident they made it just the right HP to fit into one of their 104HP Eurorack cases alongside a M32, DFAM or SubH, with the patch bays conveniently next to each other.
Probably says a lot about my brain that I find those kinds of design choices fascinating, kind of like how I admire the way IKEA make a lot of their furniture and accessories work together.
Don’t tell me that. You’re gonna make me buy the entire Moog trilogy now too 😅 I’ve wanted the DFAM and SubH since they came out. The M32 seems amazing as well.
I don’t have the space right now as is but whenever we move I may end up buying that triple bundle of all 3. Though the EastBeast and WestPest still tempt me.
Probably the best piece of gear named after an old lady.
Sorry! The EastBeast and WestPest are an attractive proposition, too. Someone (Benn Jordan?) said fairly recently that we’re in a kind of golden age when it comes to electronic instruments, and whoever it was was right, I reckon.
I thought that, too. The official line is that it’s an old name for a song thrush, and there’s a silhouette of one printed on the circuit board. Though I still think it should come decked out in a twin set and pearls…
I definitely agree. I think 2010 forward rivals the golden age of the latw 70s-80s. So many great synths coming out.
I don’t want to go back to a room full of hardware but I am looking forward to moving and having a music room with a handful of synths. I mostly just want space for my electric drum kit though.
An old lady, but a really great one:
She’s wonderful, indeed.
