Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Got my first Hammond and it’s not an organ!

Very happy with this brand new bass melodica. It has 2 built-in microphones, one for the higher notes and one for the lower notes. Balance between them can be adjusted.

I plugged it in a cheap guitar amp, lot of fun and it offers nice variations in tone.

  • God, I just watched an appallingly bad performance demo of this online, lol, so out of tune, nevertheless sounds like it would be fantastic in the right hands. Congrats and enjoy Dan!

  • 👍❤️🔥

  • Congrats on joining the Hammond owner club. This is the first video I clicked on to see what it sounds like. I thought it could be a useful tip for you 😂

  • Wait this is an electric melodica? 😮

Yes, and the it’s the PRO version with only 2 octaves 😄

I gotta look up some demos of this. I’ve never seen an electric melodica before, that’s super cool! I just play mine directly into a mic 😂

I am mostly interested in creating unique and often dissonant sonic textures that are modulated with breath. They can be a great sound design tool.

Of course a bigger balloon will give more airplay😜
But more seriously, one of the main reasons I am getting into melodicas is the ability to articulate and modulate the sound with breath.

It is still acoustic but amplified. The guitar analogy is an acoustic guitar with a buit-in pickup rather than an electric one.

Yeah I get that lol I’m just surprised to see a melodica that’s “electric”, I didn’t know they existed.

  • Nice! That’s really cool and a great little piece to have in your collection.

Ooh, I feel like a little boy now. Let me show you my first and only Hammond!

I bought this sitting in the back of a coffee shop for $80. 1956 Hammond Chord Organ. Has 60 vacuum tubes. I haven’t modded or repaired anything. Works as good as it did back in 1956.

$80?? What a deal. I love Organs. Would love to have some big hardware organs some day when I have the space.

They are really like early synths rather than organs though, really sounding unique and not quite organ, not quite synth.

I prefer the sound of tone wheel organs, but these definitely have a unique sound of their own.

100%. If I could only afford a tone wheel. Cheapest one I’ve seen was $12k.

I’m more of a combo organ guy myself. I’ll take a Vox or Farfisa any day. Love a good tonewheel too though.

A friend found a restored B3 in Maine for $4.5k but decided against it as he doesn’t have the space. I’m sure it would have cost a fortune to get it down here in one piece.

I knew that but I precised this in case someone not familiar with melodicas would think that an “all electric “ one existed.

Thanks and great find that chord organ!

  • I had two 70s electronic organs, heavy and bulky instruments. They were quite popular then but the first affordable portable electronic keyboards of the 80s killed them.

I gave one away 3 years ago and gave the other one just yesterday. It has a great tone and was a bit sad to let it go. Hopefully it will find someone who will enjoy it!

  • Closer to melodicas, I still have 3 vintage reed organs, including a rare MicrOrgan. It’s available in my Reed Organs sample set.

That would’ve been a steal. The B3s are very hard to come by. Yeah the one I have weighs a ton. I did it myself but it wasn’t easy getting it home.

There was a time I was checking once in a while, but seem to remember them being less than 12k. I live in SC and prices here seem less than that, but as a friend once pointed out - you’re more likely to find them in working condition in places where there are more churches per square mile.

The weight though - helped a guy move an A-100. Now if you think a B-3 is heavy…

I hear you. This thing was incredibly heavy too. Loading it in the truck was hell, getting it off the truck into the garage was hell and it was especially hard to get it from the garage into my home studio. But it was worth it. The sound is fantastic and the chord keyboard and the bass and fifth pedals are just great.

It’s great to have it close by when I’m in a rut.

  • I knew a family who had an entire church organ installed in their basement. Not just the keyboards, but the entire pipe network, installed in the ceiling of their basement. When they played that thing the entire house shook.

Definitely something I’d like to have access to. I have a MIDI controller and a Yamaha workstation to the right of my piano, so can switch between various keyboard types quickly, but the piano is the only one that feels like the right instrument. The action on an older electronic organ of any kind just feels right for the sounds that playing produces.
