Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Audiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Dudes and dudesesses,

http://www.fgcomposer.co.uk/FANDGCOMPOSER ISSUE 8 SEPTEMBER 2014.pdf

This month we have a new look for the mag and some insightful soundtrack reviews, some (possibly un)worthy opinions of the superb iVCS3 and jolly awesome ToneStack, a meaty feature from Brian Matthews on his StoneTrek parody project, and world music in the form of the erhu and Ethiopian jazz (a real ear-opener).

As always, please feel free to share the mag and link and for anyone who's interested in writing for us (we do it for the love, not money), please PM me here. We need reviewers, features on software, news and views, so what's stopping you? Hmm?

Cheers,

Chris

  • I have posted on my Facebook page the following, beckoning to my followers to check out F&GC & the iOS music scene. Here's what I had to say to them:

    *Hey, everybody!
Since owning an iPhone I have dived into the iOS music scene, auditioning many of the rather stunning number of music apps that can be had - cheap! Also stunning is the quality of music production and effects you can get from these digital marvels!

One of the must-have apps any self-respecting iOS musician should own is Audiobus, an app that allows compatible apps to record from or into each other, something you really couldn't do before without jumping through a few hoops.

Audiobus also boasts one of the best online forums I've ever had the pleasure of being part of, and besides being able to get loads of info about using AB & all the other apps available there is one member who publishes an online magazine called 'Film & Game Composer', featuring a wide range of articles and reviews of and about music apps and people who's musical talents fit the magazine's purpose. I have written an article about producing the 'Stone Trek' cartoon series, and it is online even as we speak:

Please check it out - you might find some other stuff that piques your interest! And if you're bold enough to jump into the iOS music scene it would behoove you to join the Audiobus forum at www.audiob.us and hang out with this cast of hobbyists and working musicians who offer vast amounts of information on the subject!

Thank you for your time! I know that some of you have some sort of a musical background, so avail yourselves of the opportunity to explore what the iOS music scene has to offer!*

  • Thanks for that. For future reference we aim to publish on the 15th of the month, occasionally earlier and perhaps later! But that's the aim.

Got some cracking stuff lined up for next time too!

  • Great reviews of iVCS3 and ToneStack there. Good to get another perspective.

Great mag! Thanks for turning me on to this. Can I get back copies?

  • Of course you can. There's a link at the bottom of the Latest Issue page on fgcomposer.co.uk. You'll find all sorts of quality stuff in those. And all free!

  • Thanks! Stone Trek...

  • Thanks! I'm downloading them all to my iPad.
