Loopy Pro - Quiet Audio Session Recordings

So when I session record audio in Loopy Pro (Combined Input/Output) to share a song sketch with other musicians, the volume always ends up being low when you play the resulting file on a phone or in a car.

Is best practice to just crank up the master output to +12/+24db in loopy pro when session recording? I feel like maybe the audio quality isn't as good when I do that. Maybe some clipping.

    Complete guess here…

    Is your song sketch recorded in stereo but played back in mono on the phone or in the car? If so, could there be some phase cancellation of the Left and Right channels going on? Are you able to A/B the stereo sketch with a mono output to compare levels?

    Open the file in an audio editor and check out the volume of the recorded file and the level readings. How do those readings compare to what you see in Loopy's mixer when you are performing.

    And, no, it is not best practice to arbitrarily crank levels. It is best to figure out why the levels are so low.

    One possibility is to normalize the audio file after recording if you can't figure out what is going on.

    You might want to make a screen recording showing your setup and then a demonstration of what happens followed by opening the resulting audio file to see how it compares to what you saw in performance.

    FWIW, I just did a session recording a session that had a sine wave playing set to 0 dB on the mixer and when I opened the session recording file, the level matched the recording level.

    Appreciate the quick and helpful responses.

    Definitely not a stereo to mono issue as I can here the ping pong delay panning left and right in the car.

    I thought maybe Loopy Session Recorded at a lower level or something but it’s probably settings on my mixer/interface. Time for some troubleshooting of the hardware.
