Audiobus: Use your music apps together.

What is Audiobus?Audiobus is an award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you use your other music apps together. Chain effects on your favourite synth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app like GarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface output for each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive a synth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDI keyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Another one to add to the list…

sigh it grows more and more every day. According to AUBE I have 704 Audio Units. So how is there still so many I want 😫

I'm down to 204 AUv3's installed and I don't miss any functionality :sunglasses:

I could probably cut down my synths a lot easier than I could my effects. That’s where the majority of my app count comes from. I’m a sucker for a good delay or reverb or distortion or filter or…anything else 😂 that said, I still stay inspired and eventually make my way around to using most of them, so they stay. I have slowly been culling apps over the last few days though and will probably continue until all the ones I never use are gone.

  • I remember the days I just had one fx unit, and it could do a delay and a reverb, and some other stuff. Those days where simple..

  • Speaking of having waaaaay too many apps and fx… How does this compare to Reamp by Klevgrand?. I already have stuff to do the cabinet part, so I’m talking about the valve emulation, warming, distortion…
Stupid me tends to think that the new is always better (don’t we all?) when 2 apps clearly overlap and you don’t even feel a deficit in that department. Oh, I just remembered I also have Saturn2 which also does valve emulation.

I don't have Valves yet, but judging from the demos I've seen it's a much deeper emulation than either ReAmp or Saturn. ReAmp and Saturn each have a generic valve simulation whereas Valves goes much deeper and emulates a whole bunch of different valve models.

It does?. I only see “triode” and “pentode”. In that sense Reamp and Saturn actually have more warming “devices” like tape, tube, transistor, etc… The thing with Saturn is I find it a bit overwhelming to just “warm up”, I’m probably an idiot but I feel guilty using an app that looks big and complex like Saturn for some basic task.

  • @tahiche Phoenix is good for warming up a sound. It has five different preamp models and is a lot more basic than Saturn but it has a great sound. Valves does only have the triode and pentode but then the cabinets go a long way in shaping the sound as well along with the filters. Whatever Audiothing is doing with their IRs is just magical.

  • Is there an ETA on this yet?

My bad, you’re right there’s only two types.

No AUV3!? I only see IAA in AUM. Better do a restart and if that doesn't help - a very quick refund.

Edit: Restart sorted it .. puh!

  • It’s always sorted… apple don’t get this shit together since years… it’s a poor show. The registering of AU plugins most of the times require a restart.

Except (talking about me) when you put FX plugins into the Instrument bubbles in AUM, for the love of it all they don’t show up 🤪

  • Good practice is to always close all apps before installing new apps and launch the installed stand-alone at least once after installing it. I've not had missing AUv3s issues in ages...

YT and Insta vids - also with giveaways are now up too. Very pleasantly surprised by the intro price on this - only $5?! Was definitely expecting more, I think this will be a popular release, even if it doesn’t scratch my experimental itches the way AudioThing apps usually do

I'll give the YT giveaway a go since this one doesn't have a parametric EQ and might be fully operational without a mouse with a scroll-wheel :sunglasses:

I gave you a thumbs up and watched the video, but I didn't leave a comment to give those who are interested a better chance. ;)

Yeah this has no UI problems that I noticed, thank god 😂

    Cheers @Luxthor 🔥

  • 66% off intro price at only $4.99 will be $14.99

  • Wow $4.99 is a pleasant surprise. I was expecting $9.99 at least. Most likely gonna take the punt on this one. I’ve been wanting a nice tube saturator. SGA is priced a bit out of the “random splurge” territory. As is the new Woodmans app, but it seems great too.

I went from fifteen apps to forty-one in just the last two weeks. :#
And I'm pretty sure I'm getting this too.

  • I was expecting like $10 for the sale price so $4.99 was a happy surprise

Just commented the same thing. Definitely a happy surprise. Excited to get off work to try it out.

Definitely! I'm leaning towards the woodman one, in terms of experimental capabilites. I wish he had released it with an intro price!

I've put a tweet up (and also edited my pinned YT comment on the WoodValvet vid to compare the pros and cons of each in detail:

Thanks Gav! Actually reading the differences make them seem like totally separate apps. Definitely room for both I’d say. Probably gonna pick up Valves first since it’s on intro pricing, and then WoodValvet sometime in the next couple weeks.

Yeah the differences are significant - what I'm less clear on is how much WoodValvet adds that Saturn doesn't have - simply because it's been a really long time since I've used Saturn for some reason. Thoughts?

I haven’t done an in depth comparison yet but right off hand from my limited play through you have more choices for tube type as well as being able to choose if they’re running in serial or parallel. Also a dedicated app/UI. With Saturn you’d have to spend time trying to replicate all of this from scratch but with WoodValvet it’s all there. No fuss.
